I will never get over my boy Jongwoo's rise in ranks. 29 (the host actually said wrong) spots after having the performance aired only a day before voting closed?? insane. As for your question about the voting: it's difficult to explain, but basically how it happened is that once the elimination episode was aired, a new round of voting opened immediately, and lasted for two weeks. Voting had then been closed for a week. To explain further: after elimination episodes we got two weeks of performance episodes (half of the new missions' performances in one week, and the other half the next week) and voting for each mission then closed the day after the second half of the performances were aired. Ex: 1st elimination was aired on March 2nd (what you just watched) and he second global vote also opened on that day. The first batch of performances from the new mission was then aired on March 9th (ep 6), the second half on March 16th (ep 7). The global vote for that mission was then closed on March 17th, and then there was a week-long break in voting until March 23rd, when the second elimination was aired (ep 8) and a new vote was opened. Keep in mind that this means that the contestants who had their performances aired as part of the "second" performance episode only had under 24 hr to impress and change someone's opinion. This is pretty important to remember and was a stress factor to a lot of fans considering their favorite might impress with their performance, but because it was aired right before voting closed, they didn't stand a chance against contestants that had their performance aired a week prior. Hopefully this made sense??

I mean, I can only judge what is being shown lol. They both did great, but Ye Dam's moves were more impressive. I'd love to see the Haruto VS Hanbin battle!

Yeo Jingoo was the planet master of Girls Planet in all the episodes too! The clip of that girl saying he's an ugly man became a meme. She confused the korean word for handsome with ugly.

I won't speak for others, but as someone who has been into kpop for years and just tends to naturally follow 1-3 groups at a time, it's simply because being a fan and being a stan are quite different things, and stanning a group, especially big 7+ member groups, takes so much mental space and energy in and of itself. In other genres, liking an artist mainly refers to liking their music or talent/persona/aesthetic, or specifically following their musical journey. In kpop, if someone just likes and follows these parts only, they're probably considered a casual/normal fan in the dedicated kpop spheres (not saying that's how they would self-identify, just how they might be recognized by others lol). Considering that these are groups and each member has their own strengths and their own path, to me it feels like I'm a fan of many artists even if they are all joined together to form a unit. There's also the fact that kpop groups are in direct competition with each other, and the industry itself, though it's grown a ton in this decade, is still small compared to other music industries. So, stanning multiple artists that frequently 'compete' for the same demographic and niche is just a challenge that arises for some fans who either value a more united fandom life as part of their fan experience (this can be mostly avoided with curation of social media, but even those people who are 'above it', I guarantee you'll see them rant about their toxic fandom experience at some point. The negativity itself is an entertainment and will naturally draw the eye when it involves those you like) OR if the artist's success is very important to them ('success stans', those who feel like the artist's success is like their own success). Lastly, I think stanning, as opposed to being just a fan, implies a much stronger and more emotional attachment that could include participating in the parasocial relationship with the artists--not just in the romantic delusional way, but in the way of feeling like you know the artist, seeing their fan effort pay off in the artist's success, expecting and feeling happiness from the frequent updates, hoping for interactions or imagining how you would interact with them in real life, or recognizing themselves in the artists when they share their thoughts. This applies to stans of Western artists too, but the kpop industry is as strong as it is because it specifically courts stans for their groups, as their loyalty, dedication, and spending power is what keeps kpop as an industry afloat. I've seen people compare stanning in kpop to being a sports fanatic and routing specifically for one team lol. But for others it's like fantasy football, where you can have fun imaging scenarios or participating in more friendly competition.

S L

I'm sorry for not including paragraph breaks btw I don't know how. Also your face during Junhyeon's aegyo moment was amazing.

Marco Gennuso

Thank you for taking the time to explain that! I've compared Kpop to sports many times, and have even gotten some ppl to listen and appreciate kpop because of that analogy haha. I definitely understand the passion and dedication that goes into supporting favourite groups; I just don’t like when it's at the expense of other artists. In other words: "XX group are my ults!!! ZZ sucks!!" etc.....I tend to see people gatekeep their favourite groups so hard that anyone with the slightest hint of success or accolades are automatically scoffed at or insulted because it's not their favs. It's okay to have favourites, I have favourites myself. But if every reactor only stanned one group and one group only, fans wouldn't get nearly the amount of reactions they'd want. Could you imagine I only reacted to one artist? I'd grow sick of them pretty quick. I'd also run out of content to film as I'd have seen and filmed everything they have lol. I hope my words don’t come off offensive in any way, not my intent lol. Just how I see things. Variety is the spice of life as they say, and I'm soooooo glad I got into kpop because there isn't just one artist to enjoy, there's a plethora of them to enjoy! (Maybe too many 😂😭😭)

S L

I totally get you on that, the tendency of fans to uplift their faves at the expense of everyone else is usually a result of their monogamous tunnel vision lol. The more attached and/or overprotective they are, the more they distortedly perceive the success of and positive attention to others as a threat to their fave, as if only one group/artist can be successful. And it's sooo silly when they try to gatekeep other groups from reactors. The point of reacting is to be exposed to new things you wouldn't normally watch lmao. Also, I'm not offended by you at all. I agree, I love the variety and huge range of content in Kpop. I also love lots of different groups, songs, shows, etc. I just can't keep up with all of them with the same passion. I'm glad that there are people like you who have big hearts and can enjoy all that kpop has to offer ;)

Marco Gennuso

Agreed on all fronts, and thank you for such kind words!! 😃💜🙏🏻 What other groups do you like??

S L

The first groups I stanned were SNSD, T-ara, After School/Orange Caramel, and Beast (now Highlight)! Then I was an Exo-l (still am really). These days I mainly stan/keep up with Zb1, Everglow, and Aespa :) I still have lots of love for a lot of the 2nd/3rd gen girl groups, or I have the most nostalgia for them. The funny thing about ZB1 is they are the first group I liked pre-debut, and they're the first Mnet franchise group lineup I actually liked right away LOL. The others either had to grow on me or I lost interest before they could.

Melissa irving

Speaking of tops & bottoms... as you probably know, the name of the group is ZeroBaseOne. In Chinese gay slang, 0 is bottom and 1 is top.

Melissa irving

in the final episode, you'll see multiple people burst out laughing when the group name is announced.
