I know it's very early considering we don't even know if he even made the team but if Riku does make it he'd be one of SM's first like full on rappers, besides Mark and maybe Karina/Giselle/Taeyong. There is a difference between artists who can rap decently/speak-sing, and like actual rappers (if I had to make an example think of Sehun vs. Suga, this isn't to say Sehun isn't talented and hasn't put out rap-based solo songs (shout out to his g-funk solo song On Me that's great), but everyone can recognize there's a big difference between the two). Riku gives off the vibe, mannerisms, and tone of a RAPPER. SM has never been the company to be known for rapping (it's always been YG or HYBE) but I'm excited to see what the group direction would be if a trainee as charismatic as Riku made it and if he had the passion to do intense solo or group rap work. Also, Jungmin's tone is perfect for a J-pop group. I swear I've heard anime soundtracks with artists who sound similar to him but I can't remember who I'm thinking of. Like his rock tone is so memorable and I think he'd make a great addition to the team. I think out of all the boys I need him and Riku to be in the group the most. The other two members I'd like to see fill the spots could be Anderson and Ryu but it could be interchangeable. I also really like Heitetsu for some reason and would love to see him grow. There's just this good energy around him I can't explain. Also when you were explaining that some people sound better live I think I want to add onto it! I think diction is incredibly important for live performances, and if the person singing struggles to maintain vowels or solid breath support then they'd definitely sound better pre-recorded where they can have many takes to try to find the right tone and record that one success out of the numerous failures as compared to live performances, where you can't redo them over and over to perfection as you only get one chance. I think Minjae has a great, clear tone and was able to find a stable, sustainable way to sing it in person, so I think that's why Boa told him he sounds good live. Also fully agree about the fact a taller height makes it harder to dance. That's why many professional dancers are on the shorter side and I think that's why Gunwook in Boy's Planet is always complimented on how fast/sharp his dance moves are considering he's like 184cm/6'1 and has like long limbs. Side note that's also why Juyeon from The Boyz looks so amazing when he dances, he has great control of his long limbs despite his tall height. I'm really excited to see the outcome of this group. And the mentors for next week.

Love reading your input, you make a lot of great points! Good eye in pointing out Gunwook's height and why his dancing impresses people so much (I love The Boyz btw and can't wait for their comeback.....I have to react to their Delicious album pronto!!). Riku was soooo good; you obviously know a lot more about SM as a company than I do, so I trust your judgement when it comes to rappers. His tone kinda reminds me of Joohoney from Monsta X (who I also love). I know it's early days, but I would be shocked if Anderson doesn't make debut or at the very least goes really far on the show. We'll just have to wait and see!
