I feel like a good twist this show could've had (A lot of people would probably hate it) is if they kept the 2 official members a secret until the finale.

Omgggggg I would've loved that! As of right now, things do seem to be pretty straight-forward. Let's see if there's any surprises in store for us!!

I think this show is unusual for a couple reasons; 1. Because it's from SM and therefore has so MANY different sunbaes to use as mentors and also has like actual vocal, dance, and rap coaches, 2. The show doesn't consider audience votes at all (which is good in my opinion considering how often people vote not based on talent or group cohesiveness). 3. The show is arriving at an awkward time for NCT. A lot of people think this was supposed to be the format used for NCT Hollywood (remember when SM was trying to make a Western Based pop group but those plans got decimated after the stock issues/leadership controversies at SM with the CEO and upper management? it would explain why the show feels oddly western in my opinion, like not introducing all the contestants in the first episode, the way it's edited, etc). NCT Hollywood would've been a huge gamble, and I think after all the controversies SM has gotten into this year it would make sense to refocus their eyes on Japan as there is already a preexisting market for kpop and hybrid groups. NCT Tokyo had been talked about before but NCT Hollywood was supposed to happen, like an announcement made by the higher ups was even made, but after everything they ditched it. I also think a lot of companies are looking to further monopolize on the Japanese market with boy groups. &team from HYBE is a hybid group, this group will be a hybrid group, and XG's company actually has a hybrid group in the making as well. After losing Lucas, having Sungchan and Shotaro leave to enter a separate boy group outside of the NCT umbrella, and losing the already known SM Rookie Shohei, a lot of people are worried about the future of the NCT brand. Plus a lot of the older, pillar members are reaching towards their enlistment age so what will happen to NCT as a whole? This show is the final puzzle piece to what NCT is, and I'm cautiously awaiting to see if this new boy group and NCT Dream become the forefront of NCT in the next couple of years. I also enjoy the fact that the boys are getting actual advice and critiques. I feel like with Boys Planet it was a lot of 'you're doing this wrong' and not a lot of 'this is how you can do it better' (at least out of what was aired). Seeing industry professionals give actual advice is so refreshing. It doesn't happen in a lot of survival shows either, where more often than not the judges aren't very helpful and just say harsh critiques with no encouragement for shock value. I already saw you want to watch LOUD which is great but I also think you should add Wild Idol. While LOUD really explored how CEOs play a role and how team members are used for a cohesive group, I think Wild Idol really puts a focus on the importance of skillset with rapping, singing, and dancing. Amazing judges, amazing contestants, and it's just very unique. I also haven't seen a single reactor react to Wild Idol and I think it's such a shame they're missing out. Fully recommend, 10/10.

I appreciate your input so much, thank you Nina! I knew of the SM controversies but you put it in a much clearer perspective for me. You make some great points about the NCT brand....Enlistments are always going to throw a wrench into things, I feel (unfortunately). I guess NCT has an advantage by having over 20 members in their group they can afford to have a few of them take breaks at a time? I too wonder about NCT Hollywood....I keep thinking of NCT 127's Regular (English version) and envision that is what they would ultimately go for....NCT as a whole has always struck me as a group that Americans would love - they definitely have the attitude and sound (and talent, of course) to really make an impression....but for some odd reason, I feel like SM just hasn't pushed them into the forefront for American audiences and I just don't know why? I will definitely add Wild Idol to my list here!! In fact, since it came out before LOUD, should I react to it first??
