Everyone always thinks Jinhwan (Jay) is the maknae 😂. Since the departure of B.I, Jinhwan has now become iKON’s leader. It makes sense not only because he's the oldest but as you saw in this episode he cares about the members and their image and to this day, he still does. He's currently serving in the military, and both iKON and ikonics are missing him🥲

Yeah Team A’s team work and dynamics needed to improve. As Yoon said the vocal line has been training together for like 1-2 years. Hoony and Mino came in 2012..literally a year before this survival program. So tbh they didn’t really have a solid identity or color as a team. They didn’t even have a leader until Yang Hyunsuk appointed Mino as a leader. Even then, hoony and yoon also have good leadership skills as well. So there was a lot of voices and opinions, but not a lot of listening. But yeah you’ll see Team A grow as a team and finding their own unique identity and color. As for their “New Day”, I think they wanted to focus more on the message of the song. Most especially the rappers lyrics which is about resilience and overcoming a struggle. That’s why they didn’t really go hard on the choreography. But yeah there’s still some improvement even though they lost. Also, just get your tissues and everything ready.. a lot of tears are going to fall in later episodes. To answer your questions back in the day trainees female and male were allowed to hang out and talk. Even YG artists sometimes check in with the trainees, but of course trainees will be shy or awkward around them. Present day, I heard not even female and male trainees are allowed to hang out or eat together. The last time I heard of female and male trainees training together and being close is WINNER’s Jinwoo and BP’s Jennie joining YG the same year and becoming close they had vocal lessons and dance lessons together. So yeah present day, I think there is rules and policies now. As for YG artist and trainee interactions in the building..it’s totally possible haha! Like I said YG artists usually are mentors to YG juniors and even trainees. So they would be checking in with trainees and watching their evaluations as well. BP, WINNER, and AKMU was very involved in guiding/mentoring BABYMONSTER.

Oh and I’m posting this link with better English subs/translations. You will need this once they hit the live stage battles. WINNER and IKON are amazing lyricists and composers. I’m sure you want a more precise understanding of their songs. Also, overall the subs are insanely detailed and accurate. https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/mobile/folders/1CfxRdgGMjkReK8GrLEewG1Hk0YkzJ9Lf/1BkX6S1a1jRYnthEpLea4asCsoLWr1QeH?usp=sharing&sort=13&direction=a

A couple thoughts. As I watched this back in 2013, I remember thinking that each team had advantages and disadvantages. Team A: more maturity (both a plus and a minus), overall vocally stronger, more national popularity (makes a difference later in the show). Team B: youth and the ability to have "fun" without as much pressure, more YG (as was stated by a producer here - more hip hop) and stronger dancers overall. I got the feeling then that Mr YG felt more comfortable with Team B's style, but had a few members of Team A that had established fan bases that needed to be part of a group and debut, or he would have appeared a bit foolish. Spoiler here - Team A ends up having a very unYG style that becomes extremely popular in Korea. Ultimately he got best of both worlds in the end.
