Hey guys! Here are the tabs, backing track, and MIDI file for my metal cover of Super Metroid's "Upper Brinstar" theme

Rhythms:

Style - alternate picking, palm muting

Difficulty - 3/5

Our rhythms here are more focused on the right hand and can get a bit challenging for that reason.

We begin with some heavy palm mutes going into the main riff. The main riff features a string skip on the right hand which is a tad challenging but it is suuuper fun once you get it down.

Now for our main riff cont. we loosen up and do some straight forward thrash metal alternate picking here pedaling on the 0 fret.

Now for our verse, we bring back the string skipping riff.

Now for our pre-chorus, we play the same thing as our string skipping riff but we fill in the space with some heavy palm muting chugs here.

Leads:

Style - alternate picking, bluesy

Difficulty - 3/5

Our leads cover a wide variety of challenges from easy to super advanced.

We begin with the main motif of the song on the clean guitar. This lick is super easy and you can play most of the song if you learn just this riff which is really cool about this song.

We then bring it up an octave higher as we go into our main riff.

Now for our main riff cont. we bust out some insanely fast alternate picking. This part's super tough but really fun once you get it down.

Now for our verse, we play that iconic Metroid melody here. Very bluesy and fun.

For our pre-chorus, we play a similar riff to our main riff cont. Very challenging and focused on alternate picking.

For our chorus, we're focusing on some complicated sweeping patterns that will be challenging for newer players. take this whole section slow!

That's about it! If you have any questions, feel free to message me on here or discord.

Enjoy and rock on!

~ Jack
