Hey everyone! Here are the tabs, backing track, and MIDI for my metal cover of Donkey Kong Country's "Aquatic Ambience".

This is a great song for newer players to get started with some melodic playing and it's also a great entry way into some brutal metal riffage as well. But for more experienced players, it's also a very fun song to play all-around.

Rhythms:

Style - open chords, chugging

Difficulty - 1/5

Our rhythms here are  very straight forward. We begin with the main progression of the theme; the C minor to G#major progression. We then take it into the second half where we're chugging on the F power chord and that's the main part of this whole arrangement.

We then go into the acoustic guitars playing the same progression with some big 9th chords. The second acoustic guitar track is a bit more challenging as we're using our pinky and stretching our fretting hand out and letting some notes ring.

Now for our heavy part, we're throwing in the same chords but we have a spicy little melodic harmony tail to the end of the riff here.

Leads:

Style - staccato, melodic

Difficulty - 2/5

Our leads here are also great for newer players. We do have a couple of challenging moments in here though. But luckily the main melody is super straight forward which I'm sure many of you are here for.

We begin with a harder lead part, we're ringing out the motif utilizing our pinky finger on the fretting hand and making sure the notes ring out clearly.

We then get even more challenging on the F minor part where we're doing some string skipping and palm muting on the leads here as well.

Now for our verse, we're going into the main melody now and this part is super straight forward. Just follow the notes and have fun!

Next up, we're in the heavy verse. Where we're playing our main melody but an octave higher and utilizing some bending now.

Now for our solo, we're opening up with some melodic licks utilizing bending and sliding. Then we immediately go into some string-skipping tapping; needless to say, this part is insanely challenging! Next up, we up the challenge even more with some very fast legato playing that will be all about your fretting here. And sadly to say, we end it with something challenging as well! We're doing a quick alternate picking run up to the high C note to finish off the solo!

Lastly, we end our arrangement with the same lead part as our clean lead in the first verse, but now we're doing it as a clean electric guitar part.

Hope you enjoy learning some of these riffs and licks! If you have any questions, feel free to hit me me up in a DM on here or discord.

Rock on!

~ Jack
