Shadow of the Colossus "The Opened Way" - Tabs, Backing Track, and MIDI (Patreon)

Hi guys! Here are the tabs, backing track and MIDI file for my metal cover of Shadow of the Colossus' "The Opened Way" theme!

Rhythms:

Style - heavy palm muting, thrashy riffs

Difficulty - 2/5

We begin with our main riff which is all about being super heavy and chugging on the low E string. We have some really fun open chord tails at the end of these phrases though that will probably be a new kind of experience for you guys as it was for me. These chords follow the melody but play it as an open big chord phrase.

We now go into our pre-chorus which is some big fat chords to let our melodies shine through.

Now the fun begins for our verse, we up the timing and get into some thrashy metal goodness. It's time to chug on the E string super tightly and get locked in to the kick drum. This is such a fun riff here!

Finally we have our bridge riff which breaks it down to the slower speed again and we're upping the technicality a bit here as well!

Leads:

Style - epic melodies, feel, vibrato

Difficuilty - 1/5

Our leads here are, for the most part, super straight forward but SO much fun for all skill levels. If you're looking for something not insanely shreddy but still sick, this is the perfect arrangement for you!

We start off with our iconic SotC melody here and we spice it up a bit by introducing the harmony guitars half way through.

Now we have our pre-chorus which is super straight-forward pretty melodies.

Coming into our verse, we bust out some octaves that will be a bit chalenging as you're moving your fretting hand really quickily up and dowen the fretboard with that octave shape.

And finally we have our break which is all about super tight percussive playing accross all of the lead parts.

Lastly for our solo, we begin with a really pretty melodic phrase going down and going back up in a shreddy style.
