Hey everyone! Here is the final video for my celebratory metal cover of the amazing Treasure Trove Cove theme from Banjo Kazooie!

So the obvious thing here is that AAHH BANJO IS IN SMASH! For those who maybe aren't familiar with BK or aren't sure why it's so hype. Basically Banjo Kazooie was a huge game for the N64 but a few years later, the development company was purchased by Microsoft and the series kind of fizzled away, leaving us BK fans a bit sad feeling like BK will never return to Nintendo. But here we are with BK back on a Nintendo Console and damn, I honestly never thought it would happen. Maybe we'll get a new game soon!

But let's talk about the cover, TTC is one of my favorite themes from the BK series with it's amazingly catchy melodies and absolutely insane chord progressions. Ive always jammed this theme on guitar for years so it was super easy to re-learn some of these melodies.

Arranging this piece was actually pretty challenging because I really wanted to incorporate those iconic marimbas and percussion from the original to get this 50/50 blend of metal with the original. This gave me a lot of choices to figure out how I would want to incorporate them and where to put them.

But as far as the actual recording and playing went, It was a walk in the park and I had such a blast jamming these nostalgic melodies.

I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed working on it. Thanks so much for your amazing support and let's get hype for BK in smash!

Our boy and girl Banjo Kazooie are officially in a Super Smash Bros. game. I honestly wasn't expecting this to actually happen and I'm super excited for both us BK fans but also the wonderful Grant Kirkhope who is now a part of the iconic Super Smash Bros. ost. Congratulations Grant! So of course, to celebrate, we had to do an absolute banger from Banjo Kazooie: Treasure Trove Cove! This theme is one of my favorite compositions from Grant of all time. It's ironic since I tend to favor the darker and heavier compositions of most VGM but this theme is just so objectively well-made. The melody is amazingly catchy and the chord progressions are wild without feeling uncomfortable to listen to. That's the sign of a true composition masterpiece. It's also a TON of fun to play on guitar. I wanted this arrangement to absolutely crush to bring a fun twist to this otherwise pretty chill theme. It rocks that C major melody so hard and it was a big opportunity to bring in some rhythm guitar riffage that was a ton of fun to lay down. I had such a blast working on this theme and I hope you enjoy it. You never do a half-hearted vid, but I can tell when you’re REALLY having fun with a song. This? This was one of those times. \m/
