Hey guys! Here is the completed video for my metal cover of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite's "The Raging Tigrex!" requested by my man Morgan1Hay!

I was instantly stoked going into this arrangement because this theme has a very unique quality; it's almost entirely in 7/4 timing and the only time it's not in 7/4, it's in flippin 9/8 timing! haha. It's so wild and I very rarely get to work with arrangements like this!

At first it was very tough to try and build a metal groove around this pulse but after a few auditions of different types of riffs. I landed on that main riff and it all started coming together. That's always the best feeling in music is when you're doubting yourself and feeling very challenged but you pull through and get that momentum going in your arrangement or composition. after I figured out the 7/4 feel, it all came together very easily and I'm so proud of how it turned out!

Timing aside, the music of this piece is really awesome. It's a much darker theme and very tense. The chords used in the original rely a lot on tritones which is the ultimate evil sounding interval so I got to be super evil on this one! I experimented al ot with layers like background strings and some various metallic sounds seen on the original. I've been really trying to get more layers in my covers recently and this one is proof to me that i've been getting better at it I think haha.

Overall I had such a blast with this and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Thanks so much for the amazing support and let me know what you guys think and what you'd like to see next!

It's time to jump into this iconic series with some amazing music! Arranging this awesome theme was such a fun challenge due to the crazy time signature play that occurs within the original theme. It relies mostly on a 7/4 feel but it has a huge climactic moment in the middle of the song where it alternates between 9/8 and 7/4! Arranging this theme let me bust out some really unique rhythms. After a few hours into the arrangement, I started to get the hang of the 7 timing feel and let lose a bit; having our drums do some cool fills and having the rhythm guitar do some really silly off-beat rhythmic stuff. It's so rare that I get to mess around with off timing and rhythmic play so this was such a blast! Weird timing aside, Tigrex' theme is also musically SO epic. It feels tense and very daunting. I was determined to preserve that feel in my metal arrangement. What really helped was incorporating a lot of the original sounding atmospheric elements of the original such as that metal sound right at the beginning of the arrangement (which sounds SO cool, I might have to use that more xD) and the heavy reliance on reverse cymbals of course! Overall I'm super happy with how this turned out!
