Hey guys! Here are the tabs, backing track and MIDI to my cover of Sonic the Hedgehog's "Green Hill Zone"!

We have some very chill as well as some intense as heck guitar parts in here all across the board. All are a blast to play though! This in particular was one of the most fun covers I've done in a while.

Rhythms:

Style - cool chords, chuggy palm muting

Difficulty - 2/5

Our rhythms are super chilled out for the most part. And alongside that, the chords in this arrangement are sooo cool sounding. We're doing a lot of 7th and 9th chords which are the ultimate proggy cool chords to play in metal.

It starts off with our main melody being played on rhythms, just follow those chord shapes and you're good! It then simplifies down into straight open C chords while the leads take over the melody.

The verse riff is falling down that scale from 5, 4, 2, 0 using mostly chugs with some cool open ringing tails each measure.

Our chorus we do some bigggg 9th chords that are super easy as long as you're comfortable barring with your first finger.

The tricky riff in here is our breakdown / next verse. It's this little technical CHON style thing with arppegiating 7th chords. Make sure to do the palm muting and string navigation as clean as can, taking it slow if needed!

Leads:

Style - melody, octaves, tapping

Difficulty - 2/5

(I decided to not include solo difficulty in the overall difficulty because my solos are always super shreddy and would inflate most of the difficulties of every cover haha)

Our leads (besides solo) are super chill! We start off with one of the most difficult parts where it's some quick tapping going up then some hammer ons but this can be perfected after some repetitive practicing even at slower speeds if needed!

We then have our main melody being played as harmonies which is very chill and easy (but still fun)

Our main melody is one of the most iconic VGM melodies of all time. Doing this really pretty thing over 7th chords in the key of A minor. We all know and love this melody. Have fun with it!

Our chorus riff is using octaves to thicken the sound but it's only navigating a small space on the same strings so it's pretty chill!

We have a quick shreddy lick that I improvised during our breakdown. This is tough but it's a really fun legato lick!

Our guitar solo is definitely challenging. The first half is all alternate picking with pull offs. Then we instantly jump into some 100% tapping arppegios in A minor and end it with a sweep tap. I don't know why I do this to myself lol. It sounds cool though I think :) Give it a shot if you're feeling up to some challenging licks!

After that we end it with a repetition of the chorus as a harmony, then end it with the intro licks again!

I hope you guys enjoy learning some of these licks and if you have any questions, feel free to hit me up either on here or on my Discord server!

thanks!
