Many of you will already know that we have been considering hand painted silk chinoiserie on the walls of our dining room when we are finally allowed to decorate. There are three producers that I am considering for this - de Gournay which is considered the market leader in this and whose work I've regularly shown on the vlog but also, Iksel who I absolutely adore as well as Fromental - which was formed by a couple who started out at de Gournay and left to set up their own company. Fromental, we have had an initial discussion with, due to this being a contact of my sister, Vanessa the interior designer. Due to this connection, I was a bit apprehensive about going also to their competitor De Gournay... but during our conversations, they've told me this is fine. So, off to de Gournay I tootled and I have to say, they are super efficient! A response within 24 hours, and by the end of the week, they hope to send me a presentation with a proposal. Now, I am nervous about the price but let's just put that to one side for the moment while I'm learning as much as possible through exploring this option... And here's the exciting part, they have said they can send some samples and the images above show the ones I've requested. I can't begin to tell you how excited I am about filling the home with such beautiful artistry. Let's see what happens!

The Colony from de Gournay is really fab!! I fear that 1 or 2 kidneys may need to be sold in order to pay for the wallpaper…but I’m sure you can function perfectly well with just the one 😉 Depending on the crippling de Gournay bill…take a look at Gracie Studio - they have some lovely wallpaper designs

My goodness, these are all breathtakingly, beautiful choices! I am partial to the Amazonia and The Colony. I think they remind me of a Rousseau painting! I love the whimsical monkeys , how one is above the door way and another semi hidden in a tree. I find the most enticing wall coverings to be the ones that have no "repeating design". The mind is left to try and predict what the eye will see next, and this is very pleasurable for the brain. I am also partial to the soft pinks of the Amazonia, which seem to compliment the painted walls in your beautiful home. You have a difficult choice ahead. Perhaps having a vote off with your family for the final decision? I love watching this process :)

I looked again at the lovely mansion in Arenas de Mar(spelling?). It has plain walls-and lots of paintings so I'm not sure about elaborate wall coverings. But they are beautiful and you have superb taste(plus Camilla's sister) so you will get it right!

Just brilliant! I'm laughing so much and I absolutely agree! I will take a look at Gracie. Also, a friend says there is a company that can produce to whatever design we choose - another idea. Lots of fun exploring to do!

Yes, I agree, you've put it really well. So they are telling a story rather than a mechanical repeat. And the intrigue of what you might discover as your eye wonders. I am really looking forward to showing you the samples when they arrive!

Yes, I agree Maggie - we need to decide how we wish to add interest to this room. I am very sad that this route would mean no paintings on the wall apart from those that form part of the story - and this could be fun - bringing the wall covering to life.

That's so interesting as you're not alone here - Gill too! This option has the advantage of working well with the colour scheme of the entrance hall walls too...

What I love is that their designs are based on or have accents of gold and silver. This means that with candles they come alive at night and add extra dimension - especially important for a dining room

All are so breathtaking!! I like the Livia best - no , not like....ADORE! LOL It's such a superb background to furnishings and my old eyes don't get overwhelmed - LOL I hope you are able to get approval do do some of the fun things. I would not be so patient! Very much looking forward to that as your style and taste in decor is so lovely!

Oh my goodness, these are gorgeous! Livia feels like the dreamiest secret garden you could ever want to get lost in. The Colony is buzzing with beautiful life and busy energy. The yellow is so cheerful and hopeful. It certainly speaks to the history of the house, and the room you want to put this in is very much the heart of the home. Amazonia is a lovely combination of the two. It's so sweet and playful with all the adorable animals peering back at you. You have such impeccable taste! I look forward to seeing which one you choose. You can't go wrong with any of them.
