I wanted to post a picture of this extraordinary building we saw for the first time at the weekend

It is in Terrassa where the Modernista festival is.

It is called Maria Freixa as it was but of the industrialist Josep Freixa.

It was designed in 1896 and apparently was originally meant to be a textile factory. But in the end he decided to convert it into the most epic house.

It is by the architect Louis Muncinill who I hadn’t heard of before - but really likes hyperbolic arches. He was a student of Gaudí in some way I am told.

This building now houses the tourist information but for many years it was a music conservatoire. In fact our friend Olympia studied music there.

Isn’t is just an extraordinary building - the imagination is incredible!!
