Welp, I got a takedown and strike on the first episode of Cinema Yakuza (Branded to Kill). The video is 2 years old, but it was manually flagged by Nikkatsu itself. I’m very sure that my video is Fair Use, but the next step is to tell Nikkatsu to, more or less, go ahead and sue me. I really can’t afford to go to court and the video has only gotten around 8k views and made me about $5. Because of this, I think I’m just going to let it go. If my videos start becoming more lucrative, I will definitely get some sort of legal protection for wrongful takedowns like these.

I can't understand the purpose for Nikkatsu's take down request. They can only profit from your promoting of their 50 year old films. Regardless, I really enjoyed your video and thanks so much for introducing me to the Yakuza film genre!

Thanks! I plan to make some more Cinema Yakuza episodes once the 2001 series is finished. I hope that this doesn't complicate things when making videos on Nikkatsu movies though. It's really devastating to realize that any one of my videos can be wrongfully taken down and there is not much I can do about it without spending a bunch of money.
