Hi everybody! You might remember me talking about starting this series for a loooooooong time. Well, here's the first episode! This one is on a Q&A I attended with the legendary Tatsuya Nakadai after a screening of The Sword of Doom. I've gotten a lot of requests for a video on The Sword of Doom because of my channel banner and intro (which I didn't actually use for this video, heh). Anyway, I hope you like it!

Thanks so much for your continued support!

Hey second time seeing you at an NYC location (other was the awesome French Connection video) I'm an audio/video engineer working in midtown, grew up in Flushing now living in Brooklyn. If you ever need help on a shoot on a weekend or something I'll gladly lend my help for free if you need :) I'm mostly a projectionist/digital video specialist but I also do sound work and some camera operating. eumoria@gmail.com if ever the need arises Either way thanks for the awesome content!

Oh cool! Thanks for the offer! It's usually me and one other person holding the camera, but it'd be nice to do something more ambitious. As you can probably tell, I know nothing about how to get good sound, heh. I'll let you know. :)

Loved your story about looking into Nakadai's eyes as he answered your question with you thinking of 'Suke Ryonosuke. I saw Sword of Doom 12 times in the theater and yearly on dvd. I was in Japan and by a miracle my hotel maid gave me VIP only tickets to see Nakadai taping his 'This is you life' show in 1985. Sword of Doom is in my top five movies. I made a 16mm version using modern street gangs and knives. It won 3rd place in the Berkley Film Festivals. My first feature film (now on Ninja Buster's bluray, used Nakadai's kimono from a TV shoot that, by another miracle, my friend in Japan got me. I hope you do a whole video on it sometime. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! What an amazing story! That kimono must be such a treasure. A street gang version of The Sword of Doom sounds way cool. Is it online anywhere? Thanks for sharing!

No, not on line. I had all three of the S O D fights, on the SF beach under the Golden Gate Bridge, in a forrest, and at the bad gangsters patio filled with American bamboo curtains for the bad guy (me) to cut up before all the gangsters attacked with knives. Same freeze frame ending. I've got it on dvd and will upload it in the near future on vimeo for you. I was 19 when I made it. Black and white, sound, music, etc. 15 minutes long. 16mm.

Woah, a sword fight on the beach under the Golden Gate Bridge sounds awesome! I'm looking forward to seeing it!

Hey, Tyler! Awesome pick on Tatsuya Nakadai. I love the actor and the movie as well. What a great cinematography this production has, I didn't remember that until I rewatched it. So, just to tell you, I've made portuguese subtitles for your video and I uploaded it. I hope everything is ok with it. Cheers!

Thanks so much! That is very kind of you! I didn't even realize that people could submit translations. I just published your translation. Thanks again!
