Hi everybody! This is my first sponsored video. The subject of the Holocaust in film is something I've been interested in for a long time and this seemed like an interesting way into to the subject. It seems that no historical subgenre is more closely guarded or scrutinized than Holocaust dramas. It always seems that, because of the extreme subject matter, Holocaust dramas and documentaries are meant to take ownership of and shape our view of what happened. It's also interesting to think that, whether or not period films of this time depict the genocide directly, the implied presence is always there. Anything involving World War II takes place during a time in which the genocide is going on.
The experience of doing a sponsored video was a great learning experience, but I'm not sure I would be interested in doing it the same way again. I love the idea of helping a movie earn back some money to make it easier for the filmmaker to take on another project, but it feels really weird to abstain from any negative feeling toward the film in question.
Anyway, I'd love to know your thoughts!
Thanks so much for your continued support!
