Dear Patrons,

The First Crusade - Part One is ready to view now! I hope you enjoy the video and find out something you didn't already know about this extraordinary, bloody and significant moment in medieval history.

Osprey Publishing were a partner for this video, which is great in helping to grow the channel, plus they let me use cool artwork from their books (which I've been reading since I was about 7).  If you're interested in military history I highly recommend their titles. I'll be getting onto Part Two straight away.

In other news, I'm getting more and more feedback from teachers around the world, who are using Epic History TV videos in the classroom or as homework. Kids from Mexico to the Philippines are learning about World War One and the Russian Revolution thanks to videos that you make it possible for me to make.

Thanks again for all your vital support, and feel free to get in touch with feedback or suggestions.

Toby

PS There's going to be a lot of talk about the 1917 Russian Revolution over the next month, which is having its centenary. If you know anyone who wants to find out more about it, you know where to send them

Epic History: First Crusade - Part One

The First Crusade was one of the most extraordinary, bloody and significant episodes in medieval history. It began with an appeal for aid from the Christian Byzantine Empire, threatened by the rising power of the Muslim Seljuk Turks. But when Pope Urban II preached a sermon at Clermont in 1095, the result was unlike anything ever seen before.
