Dear Patrons,

I've been working on something behind the scenes for a few months now, which I didn't want to make public until I was sure it was going to work - and now I am...

When I was researching the Alexander the Great series I was struck by a speech Alexander made to his mutinous troops at Opis (recorded by the Roman historian Arrian). It sums up Alexander's campaigns (though the words are almost certainly Arrian's rather than Alexander's), highlights his debt to his father Philip, and is regarded by modern historians as a plausible scene, which drew on eyewitness reports.

I thought it would be very cool to dramatise this speech with original artwork (courtesy of my friend Russel, who did the Patreon tier art) and an old actor buddy (Patrick) to read the speech.

This is the sort of collaborative experiment only made possible through your Patreon support.

So it will be a bit different from my normal videos (although there are still some maps!) and I very much hope you will like it. Some preview artwork and a behind-the-scenes photo for you. This one should be available for exclusive Patreon previews in about a week.

Thanks again for all your support. (Napoleonic Wars: Jena 1806 is also well into production).

Can't wait to see it. If it's successful can you make this a series? ie "The Great Speeches of history" etc.

I had the same thought! Let's see how this one goes and what people say about it, but would love to do more - Caesar, Pericles...
