Normally, there would be a chapter of The Daily Grind today.  As you may have noticed, possibly unsurprisingly if you read the last couple author's notes, there is not.

Writing the Daily Grind has been an exercise in creative endurance for me.  I like to think that the good bits have turned out okay, and the bad bits are concealed nicely by the good bits, but boy howdy have I written a lot of bits.  At a chapter roughly every week, baring personal health stuff, it's been a lot of work and a lot of fun, and now I can look back on the whole thing and say "how the everloving shit did I almost hit 1.3 million words in this whole story?"

I will be coming back to it, obviously.  I care too much about these characters, and we've got a lot more weird worldbuilding to delve into.  But I've got some other stuff to do first.

For one thing, my income could charitably be described as 'iffy'.  I don't make enough from Patreon and my contract work to keep going; I've been living off savings for most of book three.  For another, for *some* reason, I decided to start writing another story while midway through this one?  Why did I do that?!

These two problems might solve themselves, though.  I'm closing in on the end of KCKS, and after that, it's going to be published, most likely to Kindle Unlimited.  I believe there is nothing that says I have to remove it from non-public places, so Patrons will continue to have access (I'll even get the back chapters up here), but KU offers a chance for more steady income and a wider audience.

The Daily Grind will stay where it is, free for everyone except my poor tortured typing fingers.

Which leads to the next thing I want to do, which is, have another project to work on.  Because... why?  Why am I doing this?  What have I become?

Over the next month or two, I'll be posting the first 5-ish chapters of a few different stories here to Patreon.  One of them is already done, one is in the works, and another one or two are on the way.  At the end of that, patrons at the $3 tier and up will get a vote on which one they want to see me commit to, and that'll be what I pick up alongside more Daily Grind in the future.

You've all been a massive support to me, and I literally could not have done this without you.  So hoping things go well, I look forward to writing more stories for you all in the future.

Lemme know if you want any help with editing. I'm not a professional editor but I have access to some powerful editing tools. They're super helpful for catching consistency errors (Capitalized Names and hyphenated-words). I am very eager to see what you come up with next. Poverty is terrible for mental health. I hope KU eases your struggles.
