i love the final scene with Mal and Jayne, it shows both of their character's well, and i truly believe Mal would have killed Jayne if not for one thing, Jayne asking Mal not to tell the others, doing that shows that Jayne, at least now, cared what they thought. showed growth, however little.

i havent gotten into any content outside of the show or watched any behind the scenes stuff so im not sure if it was ever talked about but I felt like when Jayne tried to get them out of the hospital early it was because he started to feel some remorse after hearing what had been done to River. But then when he ran into the police on the way out he decided to just revert back to turning them in since it was too late at that point. Every time I watch this series I always wonder what could have been. I know theres books and stuff, maybe someday i will stop being lazy and actually look into that stuff. im a very visual person though. its bad enough i still have to do so much reading in some video games in 2023 lol.
