Another amazing reaction, Emme. Although the ultimate goal between Maeve and Butcher working together is to take down Homelander, Maeve has been feeding Butcher intel on the lower-ranked supes (like Termite, the shrinking guy) that are actually bad to be taken down by him and the team (with the Bureau's oversight). She was the source that Butcher wouldn't tell Hughie about in the bathroom at the premiere. As for the talk between Butcher and Homelander, I didn't really understand any of it as a team-up per se, but more as take everything down, and then have a go at it between the two of them, which obviously Butcher couldn't win, but it's still what he wants more than anything.
