While I dont know a lot of the stuff outside of the films I feel its a safe bet, like with most scifi, to assume that there is a lot of stuff that doesn't really have explanation so its kinda like make up your own lore in a way to explain stuff. So I am going to assume that the liquid in the bacta tank has some kinda of drug in it that triggers memories as a method to help the injured also learn from their mistakes to avoid a similar injury next time? Just saying based off how they are using these healing scenes to show flash backs.

The spider thing at the beginning, I was told, is some sort of monk. People who are WAY into the Star Wars lore more than me said that those are some sort of monks and that this is their way of ascending by giving up their mortal bodies and their brains or essence or whatever is put in those jars connected to those spider-looking droids. So, they used to be people. Apparently, they're from the old Star Wars extended universe stories in books and such, before the prequel movies were made. The Blindwave guys knew what they were immediately. Interesting that I just realized they start the episode with one of them and it's about people who replace parts of them (or in that case all of them) with droid parts.
