I think I enjoyed season 1 overall a bit more but this 2 part finale was great. I agree with you about less filler episodes for season 3.

I had your same reaction. I’m so sad because Tech brought the nerdiness to the Bad Batch’s dynamic, and now it just won’t feel the same. But I could see Dr Scalder replacing him as the group science nerd (she even has her own eyewear). Also, I agree 100% about quality over quantity. As much as I enjoyed the random squad adventures, I feel like we didn’t spend enough time on the central storyline this season. Hopefully season 3 will have more focus.

I think that less episodes would've had the same effect. They wanted to end the season on that cliffhanger, so it would happen that way no matter what. We would've had less world-building and character growth episodes though (no Gungi, no Phee, probably no Pabu, etc), but it still would've ended with that cliffhanger and all the questions. So, I like the added character growth stuff and expanding our knowledge of the galaxy. You see Hunter's gradual growth and change throughout. Things that aren't related to being a soldier, giving him the perspective of maybe finding a life outside of being a soldier with the benefits of that for Omega and for the rest of them. I see Feloni, who's a huge fan of the old extended universe from novels and such, bringing a lot of those things back into canon, so they can be explored in live-action later, like on The Mandalorian, Ahsoka and other shows coming up. I don't know, I just enjoy seeing more aspects of the Star Wars universe/galaxy. It's a big galaxy, I'd like to see more than just Coruscant and Tatooine, etc.
