Love the Bendu story.

Season 3 is set in 2BBY so around a year after Season 2 which was set from 4BBY to 3BBY and just 2 Years Before A New Hope. Rebels does a great job at showcasing the 5 years before A New Hope something I expect to see in Andor Season 2 as well maybe even connecting together with some stuff in Rebels. THRAWN: Thrawn is a very important character from the Extended universe who was introduced in the amazing 1991 novel Heir to the Empire by Timothy Zahn a novel credited for starting the Extended universe of novels, comics and video games in the 1990s and onward. Heir to the Empire was followed by Dark Forces Rising in 1992, and finally The Last Command in 1993 all set within the 5-7 years after Return of the Jedi. This is the same novel where Mount Tantiss was introduced the location we've been seeing in Bad Batch so that's pretty interesting. These novels together were known as "The Thrawn Trilogy" Thrawn himself was the main antagonist of these novel and in general is one of the most beloved characters in Star Wars. These became a massive hit as the last Star Wars movie Return of the Jedi released over 8 years ago so people were dying for Star Wars content hoping to see what happens next for Luke, Han, and Leia pretty much acting as a Sequel Trilogy to the movies. This was also around 8 years before the next Star Wars film that being The Phantom Menace in 1999 so people were dying for some Star Wars and the EU answered that call. The Thrawn Trilogy of Novels are no longer canon but in 2017 Timothy Zahn the original author and creator of Thrawn released a new canon book simply called "Thrawn" introducing him to canon alongside his reveal in the Rebels Season 3 trailer both happening on the same day I believe at Star Wars celebration 2016. This novel was set in the early days of the Empire and follows his rise throughout the ranks of the Empire making it a prequal to his Rebels appearance. Timothy Zahn also worked alongside Dave for Thrawn's appearance in Rebels just so Dave can have the feedback of the creator with Timothy Zahn being really happy with how he turned out. Grand Admiral Thrawn is voiced by actor Lars Mikkelsen the brother of Mads Mikkelsen who of course played Galen Walton Erso in Rogue One a really talent actor who even looks alot like Thrawn in real life. RECLAIM STATION: So this is pretty much showing us how the Rebellion acquired the Y Wings we see in the original movies such as gold squadron in A New Hope and Rogue One. The rebels stripped the outer armour plating off the back of the Y Wings to increase speed revealing the underneath body which gives them it's iconic used look kind of like a hot rod. While in Clone Wars we see the Y Wings fully armoured along with a back gunner seat.

The Bendu is voiced by Tom Baker..! AKA the 4th Doctor from (classic) Doctor Who... :) Since you like Star Wars, I have a feeling if you get to watch Doctor Who (if you haven't already), you might enjoy it, particularly the original 1969-1989 series. There are a few subtle crossovers between Star Wars & Doctor Who, with some props, costumes and actors, etc., for example, the actor who originally played Tarkin, Peter Cushing, played Dr Who in the two Dalek films and David Prowse, the original actor in the Vader costume was also a Minotaur in a Doctor Who story. Since you seem to have a soft spot for Droids such as Chopper and R2-D2, I believe you'll love the 4th Doctor's robot dog companion, K-9.

So happy you finally got to meet my favourite Star Wars villain: Grand Admiral Thrawn! He is much better in the books than in the tv shows, but at least you’ll finally get to learn about him!

Bendu is big the same way that Yoda is small-- masters subverting expectations!

Left a comment on the last episode about the parallel of Ezra and Anakin, and then this episode you're already picking up on it, checkmate well played
