Hopefully it's apparent when you get to see the full, final page that Cassidy's words are really sinking in as he thinks about the fact that his brother is doing exactly what he said he would - making him suffer. The waiting, the hyper-vigilance, it's all so draining!

I hope the small detail of Al's tail throughout this scene helps readers gauge his mood too. The difference between a still, motionless tail and one that has perked up slightly is enormous to me, haha.
