So let's talk about how when you're making a comic, you can sometimes get hung up on certain panels because you think they carry weight for whatever reason, and the pressure is suddenly on to nail it 100% perfectly or the entire scene is ruined :dramatic couch-faint:

The problem with setting the bar of expectation sky-high is you can start to get super precious about every single line you put down and eventually get so wrapped up in a single drawing you waste hours working and reworking and reworking and reworking it to death and then no matter what you do, it's not gonna be what you wanted, haha.

That was me for this panel! I needed Al's face to convey a lot of mixed emotion while still putting on that shit-eating grin, and I agonized over it night after night. The one on the left was how it began, and the one on the right is where I'm forcing myself to leave it. It's not quite what I wanted, but the most important thing I've learned about comics is you probably aren't gonna hit it outta the park every single page. At some point you gotta tie a bow on it and carry on - there's always more pages and more opportunities to do better (and deadlines wait for no one!)

Oh lordy. Quickscanning and I just realized that the speech bubbles there make it look like Al's wearing Mickey Mouse ears. Which he would totally do just to bug people.
