It was filmed in Scotland. In the highlands, mostly. :). I hope to go someday. Also, I'm part Scottish!

Hi Imon, So, this was the first episode back from the mid season break and it’s the first time an episode is told from Jamie’s perspective and his narration. One thing that is very interesting in Jamie’s opening monologue is that he says “Strange the things you remember…” and those are the same words Claire says in the opening of the first episode when she is looking at the vase through the store window. We see how Jamie learned that Claire was taken and how he got to the window to rescue her. Their first argument by the river is well known and the actors used that scene as a screen test. There is a scene of it online, but I’m afraid to post the link in case of spoilers. The chemistry between Sam and Caitriona is amazing and the passion between them during that fight makes it hard to believe that they aren’t a couple in real life. I personally think it’s just adorable when she asks for forgiveness and he just looks at her and says “forgiven” and then asks for her forgiveness. I thought it was so interesting the way they played out the spanking scene and to add some humor with her fighting back. I’m sure there was a lot of discussion about how to handle that scene of a husband beating his wife. Of course, as people from the 21st century, it’s hard to imagine, but in the 18th century it was normal for a husband to discipline his wife and you may have noticed that the rest of the men wouldn’t talk to her when they first got back. Once again, we need to put ourselves in 1743 and remember that it’s a different time and disobeying can have deadly consequences that we wouldn’t have today. The next morning after the spanking, the men felt that she had been disciplined and started talking to her again and Jamie thought they would just move on from it probably like he saw with his parents. But he doesn’t know that he has a modern woman on his hands. They go into it in more detail in the book, but Colum brings it up when they get back to the Castle that by marrying a Sassenach, the clan will not support Jamie as successor and Dougal is the one who orchestrated that. He knew Claire needed to marry a scot, but Dougal purposely arranged for her to marry Jamie rather than any of the other men for that reason. Dougal just didn’t know that Jamie was already falling for Claire by this time. Jamie is just too nice of a person and should have explained to Laoghaire that even though his marriage to Claire was arranged, he loved her and he didn’t care for Laoghaire like that. Even though Jamie and Claire have made love, this was actually their first love scene that they filmed. I love that Jamie figured out on his own that their relationship would need to be different and then he swore his fealty to her but still asked if she wanted to live separately. By this point, Claire’s feelings for Jamie are growing stronger. When he told her that he wanted her and asked her “Will ye have me?” That was so freaking sexy!!! I’ve been saying it for years… I want my own Jamie Fraser 😉

Both of Claire's husbands are progressive for their time.
