I'm with most people about not liking season 4, but the origins episode is up there with one of my favorites. so it wasn't all bad lol... Oh and go back and pause the video when Hickey is watching the TV and look at the news ticker thing in the bottom, it's around min 18:16 for me.

It's weird... cynicism is inherently a negative thing, but I feel like it's one of the main things that season 4 was missing that we have back for season 5. What makes Community so great imo is the combination of optimistic surrealism and pessimistic cynicism. The latter keeps the show grounded, and allows for real conversations, even in a world of magical plots which break the rules of our reality. You can feel the cynicism come back with Dan Harmon... without him, it was a show trying to have this overwhelming sense of positivity (which is a wonderful thing irl) but without the underlying tones of reality and pessimism that comes with Harmon, it only felt like half the show it was. I don't think you can have one without the other, and still be a special show. You can still be funny, creative, clever, ect... but it's missing that element of reality that really allows you to connect to the characters. I appreciate that you stayed positive throughout. Season 4 is not a bad season of TV... it's just not the special show Community can be. I thoroughly enjoyed watching that season with you as well. But this is just so much better of a show right now lol.
