Hello everyone! I am back with another episode of Vinland Saga Season 2. I adored this episode. Einar is so good for Thorfinn making sure Thorfinn and him get what they want and need and asking for what they need. This episode taught us a lot. One that Ask and you shall receive (but you have to make sure to ask the right person). Having a good enough person in your corner is worth more than gold, they will always have your back. And we saw the dynamic between Keith and his father Sverkel. Sverkel doesn't seem to respect the way his son runs the farm and how he does business. I am so curious about Sverkels philosophy and how he used to run the farm.

This is why I always appreciate your reactions. With shows( especially anime) I tend to be pretty surface level but your thoughts always make me look at them from a different point of view.

2023-08-12 03:17:58 I loved this episode, I like The Old Master, Mr. Sverkel. I get Mr. Miyagi vibes from him. I like how he doesn't just make Thorfinn and Einar help him, but instead they help each other. They all have work to do, but they can't do it alone. Thorfinn and Einar need a horse, they can't do all that work without it, and Mr. Sverkel is too old to do all his chores alone, but if they all work together then it's possible. He tells them "I don't care about your status. This is a contract. I will lend you a horse and in exchange you will do my chores both when you borrow it and when you bring it back." I liked the scene with the horse, when they're pulling out the tree stumps and they look back and see all their hard work. Einar's happy, optimistic, he believes it's possible, he then places his hand on Thorfinn's shoulder and it looks like he starts to believe it too. I like what you said about Einar asking for the horse, you said that if Thorfinn was still alone he wouldn't have asked, he would never have thought he could do that because he's never had that example to stand up for himself, but with Einar there he has that. I like the scene with the plow, when Thorfinn says "I imagine it's difficult to cultivate the land by hand using a hoe." He then looks at the plow and says "What an amazing invention. This must have been invented by a farmer. You must know the hardships of farming in order to make something like this." Einar then says "You really are a newbie at farming, aren't you? Everything is a new discovery for you." I love the scene when they all eat together, it was nice how no one was treated different or made to feel unwanted. I liked what Mr. Sverkel said "It is foolish to buy peace with money. What is the point of owning a farm that is too big for a farmer to protect." He then says "Too much wealth brings forth disaster. When you increase your wealth you fear losing it. To deal with that fear you use money. Then you try to earn more." I love the part when Thorfinn and Einar are walking back and Thorfinn says "I feel like I learned a lot of things today." He then looks back at the fields and for the first time he seems hopeful. At the end of the episode Einar is teaching Thorfinn to sow the fields, he says "Trust what your friend tells you." Thorfinn, he looks so surprised, it made me think of the scene from the movie Tombstone when Doc Holiday is asked "What the hell you doing this for anyway." And he says "Wyatt Earp is my friend." Then the guy says "Hell, I got lots of friends." And Doc says "I don't." I noticed you were taking notes, whenever I watch TV with you I always have a pen and paper ready. You always say something so interesting, I just like to take a note of it so I don't forget. I like your title of this episode "To Take Out Old Roots, We Need A Helping Hand." I love what you said in the video "A rooted stump needs many helping hands, you can't do it alone." I loved at the end of the video when you spoke about Mr. Sverkel and his wisdom, you said old people do like to lecture people. You said that's what your kids would tell you, they'd say Mom why does everything have to be like a whole long story. Then you said I'm not old, I'm just 32, thanks for sharing, that made me smile. And also, your not old Imon, you're beautiful, those eyes, the way you laugh, that smile, you really do have the most beautiful smile I've ever seen. You're beautiful Imon, always. <3

I love the scene when Einar and Thorfinn are chopping firewood, because they're slaves Einar thinks the old master might be making them work for free. He said "He's totally taking advantage of us."
