Yeah alcohol is one of those things where it's just so accessible and culturally normalized even though it destroys lives, meanwhile virtually harmless drugs like weed are demonized

In Robert's defense, and he was way more in the wrong, Abed was breaking some social norms and I don't think the episode did a good enough job showing it. I think when he starting pointing out that Abed was nursing his beer it is meant to imply that it had been an abnormally long time, I'm guessing close to an hour, and he'd taken maybe 2 sips while just talking about tv. We don't see enough of Robert actively hitting on Abed but even Abed says he realized it at some point but didn't say anything because he wanted to talk about Farscape. They are both being inconsiderate of what the other person wants, not just from each other but from the night itself. Robert way overreacted and was an ass, but I get having some level of frustration with the situation. I typed most of this before you even talked about it but you nailed it Imon, they are both using each other and I think the show is trying to point out that no one wins when you do. As a recovered alcoholic the only thing I miss is dancing. I know I'm still allowed to do it, but it's not fun. I subbed to your Patreon just for Community and your reactions to it are never disappointing, I love the conversations this show brings out of you. Thanks for doing it!

It's funny how most people's idea of fun is getting fucked up(alcohol, weed or crossfados barbados) or at the least only going to a place that has some sort of drug or alcohol available. I follow a lot of accounts on instagram aside from friends and I'm always intrigued by what people consider fun. I mainly say people taking pictures of the bottles of booze they have, the weed, going to the club and getting a lil messed up and it's like man that's the only way you guys can enjoy life huh? All that being said I agree that there's nothing inherently wrong with drinking or smoking weed but you have to know your limits and you have to know your limits and you need to drink moderately.

One part of this episode that really hit me was when troy was looking at his friends just sitting around moping and looking depressed and I'm like damn that's really how it be. The few times I have been drunk it was fun for a while but ultimately I just wanted to cover up what I felt for a bit.
