The episode where Sarah Lynn overdosed was the 11th episode of Season 3. It ends with BoJack repeating Sarah Lynn’s name with no response, and then the very next episode is when we get the confirmation that she died. Funnily enough, you both even commented on the fact that the show kind of glossed over the whole thing back then. And you were right, we essentially got none of the details until the 1st episode of this season, when it’s revealed that BoJack lied about his involvement. Then all of his actions involving her death get brought to light during the interview when it’s confirmed that BoJack purposefully allowed her to die in order to save his own skin. I actually really love the fact that the show waited this long to drop the bomb, because it gave the show time to develop BoJack’s character to the point where the viewer gets really attached to him and the fact that he’s starting to “change.” This way, it makes the reveal of his actions (and the fact that he still didn't want to take responsibility for everything despite previously saying that he did) hit so much harder. Kind of like a betrayal, in a way, but a well written one.

It's interesting that you bring up how the social standards for sexual acts with minors used to be different. It's one of those things that has changed over time and will most likely change more in the future, probably to the point where we we do now will eventually be considered taboo. Like, not 200 years ago it was normal for a 12 year old to be married to a 15 year old and start having kids, for instance. We never have a sense of perspective over time because to us in the present it feels like it's always been socially accepted that 18 is an adult any anything even suggestive of anyone younger is incredibly wrong. And that's not even accounting for cultural differences in those ideas between different countries, or subcultures within a country. I once had a Shakespeare course in college where we were looking over one of his works that on the surface seems to be much more chauvinistic than his other stuff, in Taming of a Shrew, and many people in the present would say things like "well we shouldn't criticize Shakespeare for this too much because he lived 400 years ago and things were very different in terms of social standards back then" but others, my professor included, say, "there was a moral concept at the time, there were plenty of people that understood that chauvinism was wrong, and it's discrediting to Shakespeare's talent for hiding things out of plain sight for people to not realize that he understood that too. Like, half of Shakespeare's work involved moral criticisms of the Queen of England and media trends". It's just interesting to think about retroactively applying modern social standards to the past, or even to other cultures.

17 minutes changed so much of the story of Sarah Lynn's death. On one hand i can see it from the selfish Bojack perspective of trying to save yourself above everything but can also see how horrible what he did. Especially to someone who looked up to him.
