It's easy to forget at this point in season 6 that BoJack and Sara Lynn slept together back in season 1. Both adults sure, but super weird since he was around while she was growing up!

This show obviously has a lot of big events throughout its runtime that all get brought up again this season, so don’t feel bad about not being able to recall every detail, especially during your first watch. I think the show does a great job at piecing everything together for the viewer regardless of how long it’s been.

Another bad thing bojack did that people tend to overlook is sleeping with Sarah Lynn, who saw him as a father figure, her only real father figure

I noticed a lot of people giving shit to Bojack for sleeping with Sarah Lynn back in Season 1. Wasn't she 31 when she died? So they must have had sex when she was in her late 20s and or early 30s. Grown adults. Maybe it's weird to some but I've seen students grow up to marry older teachers that taught them as kids. Is it a case of Bojack "grooming" her? I really want to understand why people feel he did something bad by sleeping with her. As for the episode, here's the thing. Did Bojack do anything illegal? No. The issue here is more morally than legally. BoJack almost sleeping with Penny and banging a child co-star in her adult age doesn't paint him in the best light. The best thing he can do is just own it. Diane said it best, "things will get worse before they get better, but you won't be waiting on the other shoe to drop." Own it, take your licks, and eventually, you'll be able to move on.

Bojack definitely wasn't "grooming" her as a small child, but it's still a creepy relationship overall, given how long they've known each other. It would be like a first grade teacher sleeping with a former student once she was grown. It's weird.

I don't think we knew a lot about the details of Sarah Lynn's death before this season? As far as I remember we saw them in the planetarium together, and then the next episode picked up at her funeral. So the show is kind of filling in some gaps for us here. And yeah like both Todd and you guys said, it's less about legality and more about morality - there's still consequences and responsibility outside legal punishment, after all. As painful as it is to see this happen to Bojack when he's genuinely improving himself and finding a way to do some good, I also think this is the best time for all this? I don't think he'd have been able to accept this just a short while ago, but he's come far enough that I think at this point he genuinely wants to take responsibility.
