Second comment for more information: Ram started bleeding because her broken horn weakens her. That's why Rem usually handled all the fighting and she used clairvoyance. In terms of Elsa being CRUSHED by a giant hippo? Yeah, she's dead. Lol. As a movie buff myself, I know all too well that vampires cannot regenerate after being blown to pieces -- or at the very least decapitated. Elsa's head was the first to go in that exchange. I'll be shocked if we see her again. P.S. I hope we learned our lesson when it comes to RE: Zero. Don't fall for the happy-go-lucky, sunshine and rainbow episodes. It can (and will) get worse. =)

About the third trial and the possible futures, they were all lines from the "if" side stories the author made depicting what would have happened if Subaru made a different choice compared to the main story. For example the Greed If story is about what would happen if Subaru agreed to Echidna's contract.
