your shelf gets rearranged a lot? the berserk books and storm are gone lol but I spy abi's candle

The song that played was "Jinora's Light", it's one of Jeremy Zuckerman's best bangers. Absolutely love this episode and Jinora's growth <3333

SupremeCai

Also, "we can end it here, don't need anymore books." Oooohhhhhh man. Get ready for the best book (by most people regards), some of the best antagonists in fiction imo, and more banger music xD

Kc

Idk about this comment tbh, let them discover it all for themselves first so they've got no preconceptions going in

she is very young to shoulder all this responsibility and deal with all this trauma. Korra's character arc has to be viewed over the 4 seasons. in my opinion (for what it's worth) Korra's character arc is masterclass writing. Everyone seems to forget that she is 18 years old at the end of this season, at that age I could barely feed myself, clothe myself and occasionally put together a coherent thought that wasn't about the opposite sex.

book 3 baby lets go

I think youre absolutely right for how you felt about Korra. Anyone arguing against that i dont understand. Korra is FLAWED. Sometimes, more than others. BUT she has some of the best growth ive seen in this entire SERIES all together. Over Aang. Ive said it before but aang really only had power developments, but not many character developments, and when he did, it was the last half of the last season. Aang is a male mary sure, but it fit him! And thats fine! Korra is flawed and her strength is her growth emotionally. You will continue to see it tbh. I dont understand how anyone who finishes this show can say shes a bad avatar lol. Really though. Just...not true and i cant see where theyre coming from.

Dune

I didn't like korra much throughout the series but yeah she definitely is coming into her own. Slowly addressing her own flaws.

ReactorHero

not liking her because she has Flaws? not coming at you bro lol, just wanna understand why so many hate this Avatar. I find her mad cool and REAL.

ReactorHero

Korra is not a bad avatar at all. She is not perfect(which is probably why I like her so much). The double standard for Korra is insane. awesome point on that IMON when you compared her with other female anime characters especially Noelle.

Jay rellim

for me i think korra's flaws of being super rash and prone to anger at 18 (compared to the other, younger characters in atla at 12-15) were just more annoying to sit through than aang's pacifism and annoying katara jealousy (except when he hid the scroll about their dad being near in season 1... i know you were 12 and lonely since you discovered the airbender genocide but dudeee such a bad move). but i know someone who is the complete opposite and dislike aang's flaws way more. to each their own but i can definitely appreciate korra more during the second watch. id give this season a 6.5/10 now!! not bad at all and the avatar wan episodes are top tier

ReactorHero

bruh. Aang was a Monk..lol he was trained to tone his emotions since he was born. but i respect your opinion. Ill give this season a 7.5/10 because it was good. 6.5 is just passing the bar. The GROWTH of Korra is what makes her such an awesome avatar.

Jay rellim

i definitely think ppl went to far with the atla and korra comparisons. idk why ppl love to hate korra soooo much. i find parts of her personality annoying but it was the same with aang lol but some ppl really go out of their way to hate on her... which also means some of her hardcore fans cant take **any** criticism bc they're so used to the such dumb, pointless, sexist criticism that ppl had. but then that's also bad imo bc ofc there are things to criticism in a non-toxic way. ive seen some korra threads that are really gnarly lol

ReactorHero

great points made here wow. I love Korra. Im a big fan, but that does not blind me from seeing the obvious mistakes she makes... But wait, that is NORMAL. people make mistakes, I would hate her if she NEVER learned from those mistakes. That's the difference with the story of Avatar and Korra. In my opinion, i just found the writing in Korra more realistic. Im not saying Aang's story was a fairy happy land adventure, but we really didint see too much character growth because Aang was a freaken MONK! lol he was the symbol of how ppl should act.

Jay rellim

also korra turning into the big fighting spirit was bc she was in the tree of time during harmonic convergence, allowing her to tap into the energy of the universe and do a really huge astral projection. technically, anyone potentially could have done this and it doesnt really have anything to do with the avatar (esp bc she didnt have raava at that time). but yeah still a very interesting concept and glad she used it to beat unalaq + vaatu

Allison Cornell

I see youre point on this, and im here in the comments talking about how i think Korra is better as a character than aang, but i kind of disagree here. I do think this was arguably the worst season finale and honestly just because they explain something to you, doesn't mean the explanation is good. Especially when it breaks all pretense, and kind of comes out of nowhere. It really shouldnt have happened the way it did. If there were setups for this, pre existing writing, ect: id genuinely be okay with it. But i do find this end to be a solid 4/10. Its funny ive had this discussion with my friend (Who actually hated the show before seeing it and then once watching it took a major turn) but season 2 has some of the best moments, but such a weak ending.

2 LoK episodes a week??? AT THE START OF SEASON 3!!??! HAVENT BEEN MORE BLESSED

I think there are just two kinds of Korra critics. Those that judge her character objectively and find her brash personality off putting; and then there are those who just don't like the show for any number of personal reasons and just try to find anything to prove their feelings while taking it out mostly on Korra as she is the main character. Some people hate that she lost her connection to the past avatars and never get past it; blaming her rather then Unaloq or sympathizing with her as the vicitim of that situation. Some can't get over the fact that the more adult themes & longer term storytelling that doesn't "feel" like the first show where most episode had a self contained problem they Gaang solved. Some don't like that Korra isn't as gentle or spiritual as Aang; a 12 year old monk. Some honestly just seem to hate that a girl is the main character which is a sad thing to say. Looking at season 2 objectively, it had some great concepts and stories but the execution could have used work. I really feel like the first couple of episodes of Korra fighting with Mako and turning on Tenzin were tough and leaves viewers feeling fustrated. Unaloq can be criticised for being a boring villian despite his spirit powers and goal because he's the second water bending villian in a row and doesn't stand out much before that Vattau fusion. Even the color pallet of this season was darker and more bleek then the last and they suffered from not having the same animation studio for the first half of the season. . Still there were many great moments. Meeting Wan; Jinora stepping up and becoming more of a protagonist. Everything with Tenzin and his family; they were honestly the MVPs of the season. Korra got a bison and Ikki introduced us to some baby bisons! And of course Nuktuk hero of the south! Sorry for the long comment about everything and nothing. Really looking forward to S3; its my favorite Avatar season of either of the series!

I am standing up and applauding this post. Hope Imon and Abby sees this.

Imon & Abi I f'ing luv y'all! This was the most balanced& honest reaction to TLOK s2 I've ever seen! This wasn't a bad season, Korra isn't a terrible Avatar. This show is more of a character drama than ATLA was &it really dives into what it means to the Avatar in a more modern world. The stakes this season has never been higher in the entire series including during Aangs time. I luv Legend of Korra soo much& I prefer Korra over Aang any day. I can relate to her on several levels that I jus couldn't with Aang &thats ok. I don't hate on Aang for his many mistakes yet Korra gets soo much for her by supposed fans. Whatever I'm glad y'all enjoyed it& I can't wait for Season 3! Y'all women ain't ready😉

theres still two more books left, yes this season is done. It's still an okay one(to me) but I was just worried for yalls reaction & not just liking it in general(when I first watched it). Korra's growth is big(Korra gets too much hate), glad yall enjoyed it. season 3/4 are more of my fav and Im excited to see TWO eps from now on :) -especially for SEASON THREE!?

Very interesting post episode review. I never really thought Korra was a bad avatar or even thought about comparing her to Aang when I first watch the series as it aired. She was definitely more hot-headed than Aang which got frustrating, but Aang also had some childish moments which were also not my favorite (yes I know he was 12, but every once in a while it got more immature than I would like). I didn't really start hearing people compare the two as much until I started watching reactions, but even then I would never say she was a bad avatar they just had very different problems. Aang generally had much less grey area in his conflicts than Korra. Either way, my issues with this book never really including Korra, but were more around the overall story/writing. For one, I think we all can agree Unalok was probably the weakest written villain in both series. Even years later and after multiple re-watches I still can’t concisely convey WHY he wanted to merge with Vatu. On a similar note, this season also brought in Jinora’s weird spirit abilities, which I also can’t fully grasp. I mean, what technically happened when you popped up in republic city? Seemed very deus ex machina to me. My last two issues are more preference based, but I wasn’t a fan of the continuing love triangle or the whole civil war portion. Most of that takes a back seat after the Beginnings episodes though so it’s a bit easier to overlook. On thing I do really love (and hate a little) about this season was the writers making the bold choice to sever her connection to the past avatars. Obviously, I would lover to see a spirit Aang spend time with Korra, but if I’m being honest that desire kind of stopped me from fully embracing the new cast for a while. When anything would happen, I would be thinking about who from the old show could pop up or maybe she’ll talk to Aang this time. I personally think breaking this connection was the writers telling us that this is her story and she won’t be leaning on Aang’s legacy and neither should we as the audience.
