I'm pretty sure this episode got nominated for an award. Also I never noticed it the first time but I find it funny that when the angler fish are taking pictures, the flash comes from their antenna thing.

Think it's really stellar writing that the seahorse baby in this episode has a considerable resemblance to the fictional daughter we saw him create in his head in season 1 when he was thinking about his possible life with Charlotte (The deer). Amazing bit of character writing to say there was almost 0 dialouge in this episode

The underwater culture was based on somewhere you both know well, Japan! The traditional style hotel door was a small hint as was the crazy commercial Mr. PeanutButter appeared in. Bojack was faced with being responsible for the baby Seahorse despite being uncomfortable with it at first; much like the apology to Kelsey. Happy to see he was able to resist repeating his mistake with Herb Kazzaz onto her; even if it didn't work. Great reaction and discussion! I'm glad to hear despite Bojack's disfunctions and flaws you both are rooting for him to be a better horseman.

I think everyone who watches has that same sentiment. We all went him to become a better person in the end because the flaws he has are not unique to him. They aren't so deeply rooted in him that they can't be changed. He just needs to get out of his own head.

What crossed my mind during this watch was when you take away his words he can't bullshit- he can only use action. I think it ties back to Diane sharing her view that we are only our actions. AND when he does that and is sober he's a good guy! Sigh. Thank you for the thoughtful commentary!
