Keep in mind Korra is the polar opposite of Aang in nearly every way, and as beard face said in episode 1 she's only interested in the physical side of bending. That's one of the reasons some people really dislike Korra, as Last Airbender had it pretty much straight away. The fact you guys didn't get annoyed at the last episode shows why, as a LOT of the backlash seems to be about the romance in this show, which is so silly considering Aang was making googly eyes at Katara from literally the moment he woke up. So glad you guys are enjoying this, can't wait for the next few episodes

That whole Lin and Korra action sequence never fails to give me chills. And the accompanying music 👌👌👌

Teyon Alexander

The major take away here is: Girls really DO get it done.

I really hope you gals upload the reaction to the avatar movie on patreon. Cause I've got to see your reaction to that atrocity🤣

I love this reaction but I'm all about the shade on TLAB! Hahaha, you now know my pain, and I watched that abomination of a movie adaptation in the theaters. In all seriousness, this was a great discussion and wonderful predictions. Pabu for MVP! Keep in mind that the fighting style in Avatar the Last Airbender was similar to old Kung Fu styles, where benders used a lot of energy to move a lot of bulk element at once. Everything wasn't as efficient and they hurled large amounts of rock, air, fire, and water to overpower their enemies. In The Legend of Korra, the fighting styles are now more analogous to modern MMA (boxing, krav maga, silat, etc). While they still do some fancier moves, the fighting style is supposed to be more targeted, quicker and powerful (focused) so the benders are using less energy to do just as much, if not more damage. The change in fighting seemed to confuse people and might be why some people don't like this series (among some other things). In short, it isn't fair to compare the fighting between the two and say one is "better" than the other.

Gotta be honest, one of my favorite tropes of this channel is how Abi can't eat or drink anything without something happening on screen to almost make her spit it out lol Its great Lyn is starting to open to Korra and give her a chance. Looking forward to the movie reaction; that Earth bending scene in it is cursed. Korra not perfect but is a great show. I find that people who hate it are often too quick to dismiss it rather then giving the series time to explain or improve itself.

I am glad you guys are enjoying this, regardless of what you've heard. I enjoyed Korra a lot (it has it's problems like any show does), so it's nice to see reactions where you are building your own thoughts on it

Aang's facial hair is very similar to Michael Dante DiMartino's co-creator of AtLA and TLoK.

MojoJojoGojo

Am I tripping or did we get this earlier this week? I swear I've seen this...

Chris

omg are you from the future!? Please tell me Futureman do I ever find true love or my brothers murderer???? Either one I'm cool with....

Biostar

The difference was that Aang's crush didn't take up a significant part of the plot or lead to much drama. You could pretty much ignore it.

I'll say it was kind of confusing to me why they constantly let non-benders get in close enough to strike. I can see how it makes sense to use targeted strikes in a bender fight. A lot of bending fights in TLA were blocking large amounts of elements with a large amount of your own element. But against opponents who don't have any ranged attack or any way to block that stuff? Why not blast them away instead of a tiny fire shot that's dodgeable? There's no good reason and it makes the benders in LoK look weak in comparison. In the original show Ty Lee was the best non-bending fighter. However, I don't recall her fighting too many benders of note. I think she fights Katara when she doesn't have a ton of water? Meaning Katara was forced to use smaller, precision strikes. That gives Ty Lee an opportunity to win. But she never fights a strong air, earth, or fire bender. Or a water bender with plenty of water. Why? Because they'd simply blast her away. Now in Legend of Korra a bunch of random non-bending fighters can take on the Avatar and other notable benders? It doesn't quite make sense to me. I still think LoK is great, but that aspect did bother me sometimes.

Dune

The whips that lin and some of the police force members use are made of metal so they're basically constantly metalbending.

Ruma Risto

"Burn his hair" LMAO I died :D

Ruma Risto

Yeah, exactly. And a certain past Avatar who appears later in this series was modeled after the other co-creator Bryan Konietzko.
