The B&W flashback in season 4 showed a cab driver with an "Albuquerque Isotopes" (baseball team) air freshener hanging from his rear view mirror, clearly recognize him. The guy in the mall who wants him to admit who he is was the cab driver.

Hector and Lalo are actually completely right about Gus - he IS trying to get revenge for killing Max partner/implied lover. That is what his entire empire is for - killing the cartel and making Hector suffer.

One interesting detail about the B&W cold open is that it shows that not only did the shoe box from "Quite a Ride" (the one hidden behind the wall) have diamonds in it but also had his childhood photos of Chuck and his dad.

Gus is playing the long game, as he has done in his entire arc. He is a patient man when it comes to his goal of killing Hector, but not so much when it comes to his employees. Sometimes he has to play both sides to get what he wants. Everything is calculated down to the most beneficial move for him to make, regardless of who has to suffer for it. Mike clearly hates killing good or innocent people and it shows. He is tired of this game, but can he get out? He knows too much already. He’s getting boxed in and he doesn’t like it.
