I think AoT is the best anime I've ever seen, Parasyte has the most intense moments I've ever seen and My Hero has the most complex character stories I've ever seen. Hunter is probably the best story telling anime I've seen.

My hero's character concept / story / development ain't more "complex" than HxH / AoT. In fact MHA has a pretty basic storyteling. Its appeal is that it's emotionally driven, and a rehash of everything we loved about shounen as kids. It's not known for being complex in any manner.

Btw, I'd like you guys to re-discuss the HxH vs FMAB writing after you finish this arc. You might've spoken too soon. Most intense is Berserk's Eclipse. Nothing will top that anytime soon. It's not just the sheer trauma of the scene, but how it developed into it. By making you care for each character and understand their motivations, it only drives the dagger deeper into your heart.

HxH vs FMA B writing , I think FMA B is a lot more consistent and has better pacing and more involved plot and just overall it is alot more polished show . HxH on the other hand I think its a lot more inconsistent, the highs are very high but the lows are low. And Togashis writing style can be too self indulgent and completelty overshadows character drama. But , what HxH has an edge over FMA , is character writing and dynamics . Character arcs and overall dialogue i think its much better in HxH

About that Killua line, it's because of his promise with Bisky. Bisky made him promise to leave Gon's side if he didn't win his match because if he doesn't deal with his issues he'd leave Gon to die in another situation down the line.
