I honestly don't think this is a spoiler; but I guess read at your own risk. It wouldn't make any sense at all for the beast titan to be Erwin's father. His father is very much so dead. The point of his father's death is that he knew too much so the government killed him. The whole point is that information is dangerous, if the government didn't suppress the information, then society would have found out that Reiss was the actual royal family a long time ago.

Can you AoT fanboys, just let people have their own theories? Why do you have to tell them that their theory is wrong? They will find out eventually if it's wrong or not. This is so annoying about this fandom, people just feel the need to correct peoples theories for no reason.

Usually I'd agree with this statement but in this case they simply missed a piece of vital information that won't ever come up again, so there's no sense in allowing them to remain confused when we've already been told the truth. Sannes literally said that they had killed a teacher that new too much, not relocated or captured, the conformation of Papa Smith's death was Erwin's lines in this episode.

The only reason I made this comment was because I was a little frustrated with this reaction. I truly don't mean to be a dick but, AOT is a pretty dense anime. Its absolutely fine to laugh and interact but you HAVE to look and pay attention to the dialogue or you WILL miss something. They completely missed the fact that Levi is an AKERMAN this episode. Erwin literally said that his father died and explained WHY he did (which was inline with the entire theme with the episode). That's why I said I didn't think it was a spoiler, I'm sorry if I offended.

This isn't one of those "fanboy" moments where people are dismissing theories. That shit pisses me off too. This is just a moment of them literally mishearing/misinterpreting actual information, so people are correcting them. It'd be like if once Annie was revealed to be the Female Titan, they were still making theories about who it was. Obviously the response would be, "guys, no, they already said it was Annie." There's just no need to further speculate about Erwin's father. There's no trick or misdirection. We didn't only see his death from Erwin's perspective, we also saw it from the Military Police's. It's COMMON KNOWLEDGE, so they should be filled in.

Great convo about gov't role in distributing historical books. It happens on a state level. School districts in the "Bible Belt" of America have a much more problematic take on the Civil War, Reconstruction etc. then the school districts further north or west

We know that he was killed we didn't miss that detail at all, but why does his dad look exactly like the dude who was standing on top of the beast titan at the end of season 2 finale?? They have the same facial features and glasses etc. So we assumed he escaped somehow and is that guy. Which isn't a bad theory since they look exactly the same lol. We never missed the detail. But I also think we would find out eventually if we were wrong. The unfair thing is you guys had your own theories while you first watched the show and believed certain things. So taking that away from us sometimes is frustrating. Also some of you have been sort of condescending and rude in the way you're telling us how wrong we are. And that isn't very cool. Not saying you guys but there have been few people on here who haven't been the nicest. Either way We didn't miss that he was killed we just chose to believe he somehow escaped or was turned into a titan and then ate a titan shifter. But if he's dead then so be it

I'm truly sorry if my comment came off as condescending because that was not my intent. I was just really trying to get the point across that AOT is a pretty dense anime and it can be hard for ANYONE to miss vital information. I probably missed some vital information my first watch through as well, though I don't remember. For future reference I'll be sure to not shut down any future theories you two might have. Sorry for being an annoying AOT fanboy lmao, I guess we get too excited.

Yes Erwin's dad does resemble Beast Titan guy, but also consider that Erwin is an adult so his dad would look a lot older now than he does in flashbacks when Erwin is still a kid.

First, Zion Daily, that is definitely a spoiler. It makes perfect sense for them to think that dude, who is very obscured, standing on the Beast Titan is Erwin's dad. Same hair color, glasses and head shape. And the fact that they show his grave is meaningless as proof. It's a gravestone not a lifeless body. Maybe you're not a manga reader so you don't know, but it will DEFINITELY be revealed who the Beast Titan is. So you're completely wrong in saying that. This crap is irritating to no end for me. I wish I could erase these comments too. Imon is completely correct. Just let them theorize and be right or wrong. You think I don't want to confirm every time they get something right? I do. But I don't do it because I don't want to shape their experience. Please just stop.

It makes sense to think that was erwin's dad. i also thought the same thing when I first watched this episode because I mean really at first glance they do look alike. Also I know this is a year old but in response to zion's comment's that gravestone means nothing. The government in this series clearly can not be trusted so if someone just tells you a vague ass statement saying that your dad died in a faraway town who would believe that? Regardless just let people have their theories and guesses. Telling them flat out "no you're wrong that isn't the case" ruins the point of the reaction.
