So, I had originally planned to hire an artist and keep them either on retainer, or a long term commission like thing once I reached a certain goal. And while this sounds good in theory, in practice it fails for one simple reason. Artists are flaky. I don't know if it's inherent in what they do, or whether I've just had bad luck finding semi-cheap, consistent artwork, but hey, I figured I'd let you guys know where I'm at. Currently I commission from a variety of sources, so, in the future, I'll probably change that 1500$ goal to something you guys can agree on. Maybe some sort of Patron only mini-game/writing thing? I'm not really sure yet.

It's definitely an artist thing. They have the highest turnover in the game studios I've worked in as well. Something about sitting tight and stable gives them an itch or something.

Yeah, that seems to be the case. I can draw somewhat passingly myself, so if I have to, I'll do that. It will take longer to get stuff done though.
