This is how it feels to be Aliss: Daughter of Twilight Sparkle, soon to be princess, killer of Nightmare Moon. It’s unknown why Luna gave in to the Nightmare again, but when she did, the Nightmare came in with a vengeance. Too strong for Twilight Sparkle, overwhelming the retired Celestia, Aliss took it upon herself to bring an end to the terror.
And now, that same terror lay lifeless on the rocky and battle scarred ground. However, the Nightmare had other plans. It would crawl into Aliss’s cracks, the hurt, and her anxieties.
The Nightmare would try to mold her, to whisper a weakness. “You are mine”
‘No…’ Aliss would push back. Tears rolled down her face as she fought the darkness. Luna’s thoughts started to intertwine with her own. Her desires, and her own pain. She would experience 1000 years of solitude on the moon, in an instant. If Luna’s body wasn’t a suitable host, then Nightmare Moon would-
‘NO!’ Aliss fought back Nightmare Moon’s influence, taking it in her magical grasp, and crushing it. But the Nightmare had another idea, irregardless of Luna’s denial.
Aliss tried pushing back, but the Nightmare would whisper sweet nothings in her ears, offer promises of power and a way to be free of her troubles. Luna, even in her Nightmare state, was bested by Aliss. What’s more, Aliss knew it.
There it was. The Nightmare focused on inferiority, and pressure. While Luna wanted to be loved, Aliss wanted to be considered an equal. And an equal she shall be.
Aliss opened her eyes and saw the world in a new light. She felt the remnants of Nightmare Moon in the area around her. She turned and trotted over to them, the weakened sludge-like substance overflowing with equestrian magic. Her anger growing as she approached, her eyes glowed a turquoise blue, leaving a trail of pure magic behind her. The sludge remnants panicked as she approached, trying as best it could to get away from the mare. “I am Aliss.” Her purple mane started to surge, the magic starting to change its color.
“There shall be no more Nightmare Moon, and there shall be no more eternal night!” A snarl formed on her face as the colors of her coat started to grey, and turn darker. As her coat changed, she grew ever so slightly. Finally her coat reached its final stage. Black, as dark as the night sky.
As the darkness enveloped her, her mind started to clear. “No…,” Aliss finally reached the sludge, and stared down on the magical substance. “I am Nightmare Aliss, and you…” Aliss, with no more than a simple flex of her hoof muscles, sent a magical shockwave through the ground, evaporating the last remnants of Nightmare Moon and Princess Luna. “You… are nothing at all” (c) Aliss
