Hello folks! Here's a little status update on this month's VN update. I'm currently focusing on finishing overhauling ALL of Repeat's side character sprites. It's a bit of an ordeal and I kinda lost a week of productivity from catching a bout of stomach flu, but I've been making steady progress so far!
Bradley:
Sprite count: 2
Funnily enough, only the wish/ghost characters have cell-shading in Repeat's sprite artwork so these actually take a little longer than the normal ones, but I'm pretty proud of how these are turning out! My main goal here was to make Bradley look more similar to her appearances in her CG illustrations. I've also given the new Bradley sprites Cecilia's little feather charm for that optimal ✨v i s u a l s y m b o l i s m ✨
Hershel:
Old:
New:
Sprite count: 14
Hershel gets a nude sprite because I say so. Not that it'll be used in-game at any point but I added one in there for completeness' sake :3
Hershel's sprites didn't need too many changes other than the usual lineart improvements and keeping all of his appearances on-model for once. I've also made an effort to make him look older to better fit his role in the story. Oh, and his tail appears more consistently now!
Echo:
Old:
New:
Sprite Count: 8
Jesus Christmas I never realized how inconsistent the lineart was on the old Echo sprites. Well now that it's fixed, hopefully folks will actually notice more small details haha. I was surprised how many people on the Discord never noticed that Echo's noose tightened over time until now.
Conclusion:
Aand that's my progress so far! Working on the sprite overhaul is a pretty frustrating process since it takes so much damn time and most folks on the outside don't really care all that much about it, but I believe it's pretty important to the health of the game moving forward.
Most of the remaining side characters (with the exception of Samuel and Oleander) don't have too many pose variations and don't require cell-shading, so I should be able to breeze through them relatively quickly. My work schedule has recently gotten a bit more cramped since I started a new job that requires me to commute to Boston fairly often, so I'm kinda scrambling to find time to continue working on my VNs nowadays ;w;
Anywho, thank you guys so much for your continued support, I appreciate you guys so much <3 <3 <3
