Well, that was a shut out on both questions! No ambiguity!

Well, until now.

Like their legendary natures, the fae folk are hard to pin down. Here are some descriptions. Nothing is nailed down and interpretations will be created.

Faerie

European folklore. Supernatural, living outside of our time and space. Powerful and can be evil or accidentally dangerous. Beauty more compelling than cute. Dress fine; the aristocrats of the fae realms.

  • 6”-1’ tall (but, can be nearly small human sized in some stories)
  • Wings
  • Often associated with a place such as district or a hill but, not fixed to that place
  • Are sometimes also linked to a certain type of flower
  • Power to change aspects of nature, their own or others

Pixie.

Celtic folklore. Generally mischievous, tiny and attractively child-like. Often ill-clothed or naked. Tricksters of the fae realms.

  • 4-6” tall
  • Wings
  • Pointed ears
  • Known for leading folks astray but, are said to reward consideration and punish neglect on the part of humans
  • A sort of weakness for finery exists among them, and a piece of ribbon appears to be highly prized by them.

Sprite

Can be likened to a Greek nymph. Very lawful but, can mean swift punishment for transgressions. Often naked or clad in leaves. The guardians of the fae realms

  • Elemental, often fire or water.
  • Slightly smaller than a human
  • Tend to be fixed in one place (such as a pond or river)
  • Can often be artists or poets
  • Have natural tasks like changing the colors of leaves in autumn
