Trevor pulled his Audi into the dirt driveway. It had been a pain to get here and he was sure he'd need suspension work when he got back. He looked at the Victorian house before him. It was not exactly dilapidated though, it had certainly seen better days. It almost seemed a shame Numbers were numbers, though and the old lady was two months behind on her mortgage. Sure, she'd asked for an extension but, she had called two days late and rules are rules.

Stepping out of the car, he adjusted the cuffs of his blazer. He paused to scowl at the encroaching trees for a moment. He could not wait to get back to the city and away from all this disorderly green.

He leaned back into the car to grab his briefcase. It was a new Ghurka and he was quite proud of it. He stood, brushed imaginary lint off his shoulder and turned to face the house.

He started a little when he noticed Ophelia Johnson on the porch. She was dressed, as he'd been 'warned' in an immaculate antique dress that was likely worth a few mortgage payments. He straightened his shoulders and moved to the porch.

Mrs. Johnson watched him closely as he neared the stairs. Her expression seemed to be a mixture of sadness and humor.

"I know why you're here" she said as he stopped at the foot of the stairs.

"I'm sorry to have to do this, Ma'am" he said, feeling oddly cowed by her look.

"No" she said simply, "No, you're not. You don't like the woods much, do you, boy?"

"No, I don't. But, look, I need to-"

"No matter" she interrupted, raising her voice slightly, "I'm sure you'll get used to it... in time. Now, what shall you be?"

"What are you talking about?" Trevor said as she raised her hand. They were the last coherent words he spoke for long, long time...

NOTE: This was the first of the second Monthly Drawings (or Monthly Drawing B until I think of a better name). Thanks for answering the polls!

This was fun to do. Even if researching opossum pouches was VERY disgusting. I did find out that opossum penises are bifurcated to fit in the female's two-channel womb. MAN! Marsupials are WEIRD!
