One thing I've been toying with lately is the idea of adding a new tier for patrons to pledge money to a 'word bank.' At my new standard commission rate of 3 cents a word, i was thinking people who pledge at say...$30 could then build towards a story they want (1,000 words for each successful pledge of $30), rather than commission it all in one go.

However, all this depends on whether or not people are actually interested, so tell me what you think! Is this something you guys might want to see me add?

I think this is a great idea, as long as you keep it manageable to your schedule. I think it gives patrons an option with more certainty than the poll tier, where a patron could conceivably never get a story through on the poll. With this sort of tier and some patience they could eventually get their story idea through.

Would this be on top of the existing benefits?

Depends on how well you can keep track of how many words have been saved up by people in the tier.

I only know that I will totally be pledging to this new tier.

I think it could work, though you'll probably want to set a limit for how many people can be in the tier (maybe 5-10?), just to make it easier to keep track of word counts and to make it easier for you in case multiple patrons want a story done at the same time.

I thought about that, and I think while $30 would still get you 6 votes, it would be separate from the suggestion tier.

If you do this tier, maybe set the voting poll tier to 5 max and keep it to one voted story per month? To give space for the direct commission tier stories?

Rabiator

Maybe. That's an interesting idea. I am at five people on that tier right now anyway...I'll definitely have to give this some thought and most likely roll the new tier out in April. Maybe March.
