I'm trying to replicate the multiplayer feature similar to what we had in the old Naked Fighter game. A feature I call "deferred multiplayer", when you and your foe don't need to be online simultaneously. Instead, the first player creates a "challenge" and uploads it to the server. The second player can "accept that challenge", download it, and put their own character to battle. In this mode, the first player who creates the challenge can't control their own character directly and totally relay on the "auto-battle" mode. BUT! But the second player (player who accepts the challenge), theoretically could control the character during the fight, because the fight happens on their computer. And the question is, do you think that we should allow manual control for a second player? Will it is fair if only one of the players can control the character manually, but the second player only has auto-battle?

Will be happy to hear your ideas!

Because it's not an official ranked match. I don't think anyone really cares if it's a fair match. Unless they are both fighting online simultaneously. This mode sounds more like people being able to watch their fighter fight against other people's created fighters. And less about any sort of competitive play.

The old system of Auto vs Manual was perfect once I understood it. I'm not a pvp player at all but I liked logging in to see how my fighters had fared in random challenges that day and watch the matches and rematch (me vs ai) to even the score. It was a real hook to keep me logging in daily.

I personally don't like the idea of a "delayed" multiplayer. I could not have the patience to wait for my opponent to move. I think a better solution could be preparing your strategy first: you adjust your player stats and select the sequence of your moves from the moves library. Then you make the challenge and watch the fight. Previously you were able to watch the fights over and over and I really miss these feature.

How difficult would it be to have a checkbox for the match creator that sets an internal flag for whether or not auto-battle is required? Seems like it would be a really easy way to let people have both. I would have it deselected by default and titled "Force Fair Fight".

Sorry, I didn't fully understand your point. You say you like it, but don't like it because it was good and you like it? What? :D :D :D

Hm... That's actually a good idea! Since the manual mode is kinda advantaged the other player could decide if they want it to not. And we could have both in the game!

LOL! I just realized I haven't understood what you have in mind. I understood that you have to wait for your opponent to reply after EVERY move. :D :D :D - I read better and I'm totally fine with your proposal :D :D :D

I think the mode in the old multiplayer game was really good, I'm honestly have a lot of fun with it and the seeming randomness of the results. We've been playing with the ability to share characters with fellow players and I think if there's a way to pre-set some stats, and preferred moves that can't be set by the person you share your character with then I think you're onto a winner. Whilst for some the waiting for move-by-move could take longer, perhaps some others would be willing to schedule a session and play together in a form of delayed real-time mode?

There is no move-by-move mode in production yet. Multiplayer will be exactly the same, as previous one. The question was about the additional options available for player that “accept” the challenge.

I think you'll get more people looking for challenges to accept so they have more control over the fight. It might lead to a lack of people issuing challenges, because they'll have less/no say over the outcome.
