The first night that all the party members spent back in the base camp was a turbulent one, much different from the last night they had spent before their adventures. Miri was lying on her back in her tent, as Rylie lovingly caressed her, embraced her, and slid skin to skin over her naked form. It wasn’t too long before their moans were heard throughout the camp.

Frustrated, Shelgrish closed the tent flap of her smaller lean-to. Lying on her stomach, she held back tears at hearing the half-elf who had so captivated her pleasured by her half-orc ward. She thought for a moment that she should be happy for the two of them, but that sentiment didn’t last. She buried her head in the extra bedroll she was using for a pillow, trying not to let her sobs be heard by other members of the camp. She hugged her plush bear, stuck her thumb in her mouth, and tried to fall asleep, alone as she was.

Not too far away, Maddie, wearing the best nightgown she had brought appeared at the flap of Choru’s tent.

“What are you doing here?” asked the Cleric. Maddie looked to the side nervously. “I thought after what happened down by the river you’d want--”

“Nothing happened down by the river. Nothing. And don’t you forget it.” Choru closed the tent flap and climbed into her bedroll, alone.

Minna, who was pretending to be asleep, heard Maddie come back into the tent they shared. She could tell by her breathing and the fact she was back at all that she had gone on an unsuccessful visit to the Cleric. Minna wanted to comfort her, but new she had feelings for Choru, for whatever inexplicable reason. Minna swallowed her desire to hold her mage friend in her sorrow. She rolled over and fell asleep thinking of ways to humiliate that stuck-up cleric without endangering the mission or calling down the wrath of Lady Sivallien. As she lost consciousness, her concerned look turned to a smile as she imagined scenarios of the cleric’s mortification.
