Thanks for all the support on there, guys. I'll be working on finding new ways to bring you content, now that I'll have to go back to YT fucking us all over ~___~

Vidme came a long way as an independent platform, but we couldn't find a path to sustainability. We're building something new. After careful consideration, the Vidme team has arrived at the difficult decision to suspend the Vidme site and apps effective December 15th at noon PT.

This is sad, but reading their blog post also completely understandable. Their business model was relying on them being able to strike deals with advertisers that would go out over most of their site. With advertisers not wanting to negotiate because Vidme didn’t have critical mass, or because Vidme couldn’t offer completely targetted ads, this went out the window. Hosting video, especially at multiple qualities and accessible on several platforms, is not a menial task. If this the only way to guarantee any income from videos is to sell “ad slots” yourself. That is going to make it substantially harder for people to make a living out of it. Have you ever thought about doing something like a brand deal, Indigo? If you do start working on your own platform I would love to offer any help I can give. I do happen to do web (app) development professionally. Keep up all the stellar work, and don’t dwell on the set backs too much when you are supposed to be enjoying your new daylight lamp! 😉 (BRB while I make sure to back-up some Vidme videos I wouldn’t like to see get lost.)
