Finally, the hunt for ingredients was over. Ferdinand, Liu, and the redhead returned large bags full of items. All the bags contained cooking ingredients and many different spices.

Most ingredients were meats preserved with magic and vegetables identical to those from my previous world. The main spices were salt and pepper, of course.

There were a few different spices, but not the variety I'm used to. But salt and pepper are enough to make good food.

"Unfortunately, they don't have garlic," I complained to Kumoko.

"Is garlic that important?"

"Yes, when I used to cook, I used garlic for almost everything. Garlic is wonderful; it makes almost everything better. Especially with rice and meat, I loved using garlic to prepare rice and meat."

"Hmm~~ It must be delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. By the way, is there no rice in any of the houses?"

"Unfortunately, they didn't find any rice. But if we keep looking, we might find some elsewhere. I hope we find it soon because I don't want to keep eating only monster meat and fish."

"Me too! I miss miso and tofu so much!!" Kumoko was drooling as she remembered Japanese foods, while I was only thinking about the foods I used to eat in Canada.

Poutine… I miss it. I guess I'll never eat it again.

"But now that everything is done, we should head to the next city. It's not too far from here." I looked at the map, and many smaller cities and countries were everywhere. Should I go to any of them?

The cities didn't even have names on the map. The only things marked were the names of empires and larger countries, besides the labyrinth, which was enormous, of course.

'You already want to attack the next city? Let's go somewhere to rest for a while and then continue.'

'Alright, alright. I'll take the opportunity to talk to my familiars. Some of them have grown; did you notice?'

'Oh, that's true. That spider, for example, must have grown about two meters even though its appearance hasn't changed much.'

'That's why I'll try to communicate. They're evolving.'

'Isn't this amazing?!'

'It's amazing, but it worries me. I feel like we left something behind in the labyrinth...'

'Left something behind? One of your familiars?'

'I think so. I feel like we left something terrifying there.' I stared at Kumoko.

'Don't talk like that, it gives me the creeps!' Kumoko exclaimed irritably and slapped me.

Change of POV

Days earlier, at the entrance of the dungeon, two strange creatures appeared suddenly. The two creatures stared at each other for a few seconds before finally stepping towards the outside.

They ate the remains that hadn't been devoured before. But their hunger was still great. They could eat an entire city.

The two monsters, one with green skin and the other with dark skin looked at each other again.

Their red eyes glowed, and all their teeth were like sharp fangs. Hair had started growing on their heads. Both had white hair, and it was growing rapidly.

Their bodies, which had been strange, were becoming more human-like. Their hips grew wildly, and even nipples and large breasts had formed.

Despite their short hair, they looked like two beautiful women with different skin colors. One has green skin, and the other has skin as dark as charcoal. It even seemed like it had been painted artificially.

The two women then started to run.

VUOSH~~

Like jets, they produced loud sounds, practically breaking the sound barrier. The grass beneath their feet was torn up, and the shockwaves created by their speed broke some trees.

Wherever the two creatures passed, they caused chaos.

And now, in the depths of the labyrinth, which a millennial dragon had once occupied, is empty.

Change of POV

Night had already fallen, and we were now resting near the destroyed city that had been taken over by monsters and was being used as their base. The monsters, despite not needing, were sleeping.

And about my familiars… I couldn't find out anything about them. I used telepathy to talk to all those who seemed to have evolved, but none could communicate.

In other words, it's only possible to find out what's happening if the system tells me.

Oh, and speaking of which, I leveled up again. I'm not even attacking another city, but I leveled up.

'The bad feeling I had...' I gained experience points from the monsters I left in the labyrinth, right? But it's been so many days... Why didn't I level up before?

Maybe the experience points gained by the monsters I left in the labyrinth are lower.

Or the experience they gained mixed with the other familiars experience points, which is why I leveled up quickly a few times.

'No matter, the important thing is that I'm close to level 40. I should reach it by tomorrow.'

'Hey, the meat is burning! You got distracted again!'

'Oh, sorry, I just leveled up, and I'm sure I left familiars behind, and they're doing something.'

'That doesn't matter! The meat is what's important here! Give it to me now!'

Kumoko grabbed a large piece of meat I had seasoned and roasted and started devouring it happily. Meanwhile, I ate a small piece that was left. That's enough for me since I don't feel hungry.

But it's different to eat something seasoned with salt and pepper. It's so much better this way. I missed it so much that I feel like crying!

'It's time to rest now. Unlike my familiars, I feel sleepy~~'

Honestly, it's been a long time since I slept well.

'Ferdinand, keep watch. Wake me up immediately if anything happens.'

"Yes, master."

'Hm, what happened?' Kumoko asked.

'I'm going to sleep now. Good night.'

'Oh, good night. I'll sleep after I finish eating this.'
