I want to say something profound, but I think someone here can say a better and shorter version of what I want to say and have it be more receptive to Alycia and the others. That is the age old question, if you could figure out what you’re afraid of would you have the courage to face it? One of the things I was taught being a sort of latchkey, runt of the litter kid in my family, was that F.E.A.R. ment that Fuck Everything And Run. If you fear something, not matter how small, it was something that showed growth when you conquered it. From watching a famed scary movie for the first time, to standing up to the school yard bully. Fear was something to overcome. But in life, I’ve also learned that fear is something that kind of keeps us safe. Fear of losing contact with friends that were like family show who has been really there for you when times were tough, fear of losing a job knowing that you’ll be on the streets if you don’t have it, talking to a potential partner… Without fear of the dark, we wouldn’t have invented the light. Without fear of the monsters we wouldn’t have stories about conquering them. Without fear of people not like what you have to say you meet people who hang on your every word. I don’t know if this makes sense to the theme of the episode, but the fear of being happy is something I’ve dealt with, but like most things in life you’ve got to take the good things with the bad. I am in some ways afraid to be happy, but there is some happiness in that sadness. Being rejected from someone who has inspired me has made me see them more as human. Seeing them for the flawed, but beautiful human being they’ve always been, and even though you may fear they’ll grow without you, is something that can be seen as happiness. Fuck everything and run can become fuck everything and rejoice. Or in my own words….something thoughtful and profound. (Tim! Is that one word answer starting to become cringe? Trying to get that out of my system as a New Years resolution)

Not the most consistent season but there were some really good episodes that hold up to any other season I think. First time I've done a watch along for R&M and glad I was around to catch them. Hope you had a good 2023 and have a good New Year, looking forward to resuming Amphibia as I presume being one of the few people on their first time watching of it. Maybe need to refresh myself of where we left off.

Julian, I'm not the Cringe Police (nor even a Cringe Hall Monitor). I generally have no problem with anything you say here, and in fact often quite enjoy your posts. The incident in question was a one time thing which I consider resolved and forgotten with no harm or ill feelings. Happy new year, and here's to a positive 2024.
