My favorite part of this episode is the way they did Anne's stand-up moment. We've seen so many triumphs in fiction where the submissive protagonist has followed a dominant overseer their whole life, and at the climax of the plot they finally plant their feet and say "no". My personal name for this trope is the "Quasi and Frollo". Usually the Quasimodo of the story consistently obeys their Frollo without question, and they make a 180 turn on the latter, only when the former is asked to do something unthinkable to their new friend. A complete flip of the script occurs in an instant, because it's been building up over the Quasi's time spent with the Esmeralda of the story. But I think Amphibia's take on this was more realistic, Quasimodo just needed a little bit of a push when the moment came. I like how at first, Sprig had to stand to Sasha on Anne's behalf so that Anne could see how showing self confidence against someone so domineering is done, and that was all Anne needed to defend Sprig from Sasha on her own. THEN Anne was able to take it from there, and technically she did it on her own. Sasha MAKES Anne please her, but Sprig didn't MAKE her rebel, he taught her how to.

THAT WAS AMAZINGGG😭 So much more went down than I ever thought it would in this episode!! So funny and emotional and heartwarming, ahh! What a finaleeee!!!🌟🎉 As soon as I saw we were on earth 3 months earlier I was LOCKED IN😂 That beginning part was masterfully done, it showed the most pivotal parts of Anne and Sasha’s relationship and dynamic through super snappy, well written scenarios! Perfectly giving the whole rest of the episode so much of an extra punch!! It all makes so much sense now with full context, these walls of insecurity we’ve seen come down as Anne has come into her own more and more over the season. Seeing how clearly she didn’t feel like she fit in at the start of this episode, then Sasha swooping in and having her back, treating her nice…. I don’t blame Anne at all for being infatuated with someone who’s super confident and outgoing, clearly very nice at times (judging only from the cute day they had together) and wanting to be more like her! Despite her CLEAR faults, Sasha has kinda pulled the wool over my eyes too in a very short amount of time, she’s got such a personality it’s hard to truly hate her!🤷😅 Not that it doesn’t boil my blood to see her treat Anne that way though because helllllll nooo! Seriously, that’s a really gross and horrible side of Sasha, but not the only side I don’t think. I’d love to see a redemption arc for her character too, though it’s not gonna be easy. You’re absolutely right, she’s not in a good place currently with the toads to have that kind of change of character, she needs some real friends, like Anne! It just broke my heart at the end because Anne clearly loves Sasha a heck of a lot!💔 I don’t know if she LOVE loves her just yet, I think it’s way too early to say, but hey, if Sasha was able to fix the broken parts of herself over the course of this show, I could totally see those two together! They were so sweet in the beginning honestly!!💕 That scene at the end of the episode though, when Anne just had to let it all out, completely broke me😢 -BUT, I have to sayyy it was a very strong reaction from Anne for nothing more than an ex buddyyy…. 😉🤣 Hey, you know what, I’m doubling down on my prediction, I could totally see those two getting together with two more seasons! I’m calling it!😂 I think we’ve got a long road ahead of us of course before that’s even a possibility! I’m usually so off base with my predictions though so I’m just gonna throw that one out there nice and early, juuuust in case it actually happens lol!✨Marcy’s just gonna have to third wheel I guess when we eventually track her down💀 Okay Sprig sticking up for Anne instantly comes to mind as far as favourite moments go! T.H.E. sweetest lil dude in the whole world, we all need a friend like sprig…. Sasha especially does!😂 Also the bully at the beginning toning down a second once she realised it was Anne’s birthday! “Oh…. Well, Happy Birthday…. ” *bullying intensifies*😂 When Anne and Sasha ditched class back on earth, I loved that Anne was like “Here’s the sick room!😊” like she totally bought Sasha’s performance too!😭 I loved how much they tried to give everyone from Wartwood their own moment, be it even just one little joke! They’ve all got such great personalities, so to see them all have to work together in this new environment was so great! Wally getting them all out of that situation was brilliant, he’s proven himself more than just the town kook in a really short amount of time and it’s great he got another chance to prove himself worthy here🥲🌟 Jumping back to Sasha a sec, her one liners are genuinely only second to Sprig in my eyes, the VA for her character is soooo great I realised in this episode! Even just her monologue to Anne about hop pop, she’s really subtle in her comedic timing and just overall delivery and I love it! Also I’ll be damned if I don’t mention the cinematography here too, that wide shot once Sasha let go of Anne’s hand was INSANE🤩 also I loved how they transitioned from the flashback to present day by looking up to the sky, just above and beyond in every aspect this episode, I could truly go on and on!✨ Lastly I was thinking about this the other day and I was just wondering if you had like a top 3 or even top 5 maybe, animated movies?? I remember when we all gave you our top 3’s or 5’s for movie night that one time, but I’d love to know your list! It’d be cool if there’s one on there that I haven’t seen! Hope you’re doing good also mate✨

I thought Amphibia did an incredible job with this development as well. It felt completely organic after seeing all we’ve seen in season 1. It was very jarring seeing the way Sasha treats Anne VS the way Sprig and the Planters treat her. I love that Sprig has given Anne the confidence to stand up for herself.

I love that you had the same reaction that I did to the “3 months earlier” intro. The butterflies I felt seeing that text come across the screen though lol! Gosh I love television so much 🤣 And I agree that seeing Anne and Sasha’s relationship on earth helped give emotional context to the rest of the finale, especially the end. I really think that we will see a redemption arc for Sasha.I was very infatuated with her at first as well. Her toad take-over episode was so fun to watch and her confidence is infectious. But seeing her take advantage of Anne was NO BUENO. I never considered that there could be a romantic arc between Anne and Sasha but if this show churns out another Lumity-esque ship I will LOSE MY MIND lol! I’m loving all the queer representation we’ve had on the channel lately 😍 I’m keeping my fingers crossed tight that your prediction is right, as long as Sash gets her $#@! together first, of course 😅 Sprig is going to go down as one of my favorite cartoon characters when this is all said and done, I already know it :’) I love him SO much. I really like that lots of townsfolk had their moment to shine in this finale as well. It reminded me a lot of Gravity Falls in that way. Sasha’s VA is insane. I honestly was so engrossed in her character that I forgot she was just a bunch of pixels being voiced by someone completely different until you just said it! I want to look her up to see what else she’s done but I’m too afraid of spoilers so we’ll save that for another day ^v^ Jordan always coming in hot with the best questions! Oh gosh this is a hard one though lol! I think they would have to be: Mulan, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Into the Spiderverse. It’s hard for me to order them because I love all 3 for very different reasons. Mulan’s writing was so ahead of its time and Mulan inspired me a lot as a kid during a time when all the other Disney princesses were very “damsel in distressified” lol. Kiki’s is my comfort film. Sometimes I’ll put it on in my apartment when I’m cleaning or cooking because it just makes me feel so safe and happy. Also… it’s Miyazaki so….of course hahaha. And the Spiderverse movies changed the freaking game when it comes to stylized animation and I appreciate that so much! I can see animation moving away from the Pixar look for EVERY film and into a new era where creativity and artistry reign supreme and I LOVE THAT! And you know I gotta ask now… What are yours? 😊

This is some really good insight into the dynamic of the Anne and Sasha relationship. I especially think you're spot on in regards to how easy it can be to be enamored with someone like Sasha because she's so confident, outgoing, and has such a strong and powerful personality. That "protector" role can also be attractive, especially to someone who may themselves be bullied or feel marginalized. I was possibly a bit harsh on Sasha in my analysis, because as you noted she DOES seem to have some positive qualities, but unfortunately it's a bit of "one step forward, two steps back" because she'll then come out with a truly horrible and manipulative behavior. But that insight also does help sway me and give me a bit more hope that Sasha truly will have an arc and there's actually a decent person in there somewhere, but it's just been locked away for a long time for various reasons.

Okay I LOVE your top 3!!!🤩 Spiderverse blew my minddd when I first saw that in theatres however many years ago now🌟 Those animators set a new precedent at the time I think for just hard work and devotion to your craft, that’s arguably only ever been topped by the sequel!🎊 Not to put down the other amazing animations we’ve been treated to over the last decade obviii😂✨ I loved reading about how they messed with Miles’ frame rate throughout his transition into the hero life, so that it packed this more immense punch when he completed his full transformation and was just as fluid as all the spiders around him! Also just the use of colour and the creativity in each frame, a perfect comic book movie imo and such an impressive feat animation-wise, I can only imagine that took a village! Mulan just speaks for itself doesn’t it😭 Absolute classic and unfortunately not one that was at the forefront of my mind until you just brought it back! Leaps and bounds ahead of any other female lead movies of its kind from what I can think of, just pure unadulterated storytelling and I definitely will be revisiting that one very soon now it’s back on my radar so thank you!✨ Kiki’s Delivery Service is one that I’m yet to see so I will be giving that one a go!😁 Huuuuge Studio Ghibli fan though from the movies I have seen, Ponyo and My Neighbour Totoro were big ones for me growing up I’ve seen those ones so many times!💕 Ooooo okay, I’m not gonna say Iron Giant, ONLY because you know how strongly I feel about that movie already so that’s not fun😂 however it’s most definitely there in spirit, easily one of my all time favourites! Treasure Planet is the first one that comes to mind after that! I have so many fond memories with that movie and the song from it “I’m Still Here (Jim’s Theme)” by John Rzeznik just touches the deepest parts of my soul🥺 I absolutely adore that movie! Next I would say, Tangled for me is what Kiki’s is to you I think, it just never ever gets old for me! Ultimate comfort movie, I love the humour and beautiful songs and insanely stunning animation😭 I’ve also never ever made it past the part where she reunites with her parents with a dry eye, I can say that very confidently🥺😅 11/10!!!🌟 Scooby Doo and the Alien Invaders was one of my favouritesss as a kiddo too, I was obsessed with Scooby Doo when I was young and they still hold such a special place in my heart, that movie especially I have so many happy memories with! I’ll also extend that to “the Cyber Chase” and “Zombie Island” because those were amazing too!✨ I’m gonna have to do some honourable mentions because I can’t just chose three no way😂 Nemo, for obvious reasons such a beautiful movie in every aspect!!! Coco because what a gem, that’s the most I’ve emotionally responded to a movie in quite some time, all I remember from watching that for the first time is just sobbing almost the entire latter half😭 The SpongeBob Movie, brought me so much comfort in my younger years, still absolutely hilarious to me to this day and I honestly recon I could quote that entire movie to you without stuttering😂 WALL-E is a masterpiece I think, so well done and I never get sick of watching that one! Kung Fu Panda is super amazing too, such a well told story I think and I loved how they handled the antagonist and some of the quotes from that movie are beautiful, that’s not to even mention the music!🔥 I definitely missed some that I’m gonna kick myself over later but yeah off the top of my head those are my go to!✨

Wait WHAT!?!? What is this about the frame rate!? I never knew! Okay I need to look this up, I’m so intrigued. Rewatching Mulan with my little cousins a few months back made me fall in love with it all over again. I was like DANG this movie held up!! I hope you’ll enjoy it as a rewatch too ☺️ Totoro is such a comfort film for me, too 🥲 I still haven’t watched Treasure Planet! I think there’s a part of me that’s saving it just in case for the dweebdom for when we do another movie night. Tangled is such a sweet, sentimental film. I love that you love it that much! Oh my gosh I put Finding Nemo on my top 3 originally but ended up going with Kiki instead because I turn to that film more often. But I LOVE Nemo too :,) I believe we’ve both expressed our adoration for Thomas Newman in the comments before. All the other ones you mentioned are classics, too. And I can’t believe I forgot about THE EMPERORS NEW GROOVE! Spiderverse might have to take the boot for Kuzco despite its stellar animation... I just love that movie too dang much 😂🦙💚

Jordan

Yeah, I heard they kept Miles’ frame rate a lot lower in the beginning and as he gets more and more into his role as Spiderman it goes up! Reaching normal frames when he puts on his new custom costume in that amazing “what’s up danger” moment😭 Take that with a grain of salt ofc I didn’t hear it directly from the creators mouths but it does look that way when I rewatched it! What a movie, great shout on that one! Mateeee, Treasure Planet movie night would be insaaaane🤩 I’m gonna vote for that bad boy if ever comes around again for sureee✨ Oh my goodness, you’re gonna kill me but I’ve actually never seen The Emperors New Groove🫣😂 It’s a really lovely rock though that I happen to live under😭

Jordan

Is that where “PULL THE LEVER CRONK” comes from?? I’ve heard that so many times throughout life😂 idk how to spell the name btw I hope didn’t butcher that😅

Hey there, it's me, butting in again. 😅🙋🏻‍♂️ But I just can't stand aside, when y'all talk about animated movies. Somehow we always come together in the same corner of the animation movie universe. I like all the movies y'all mentioned, except "Kiki's Delivery Service", I yet have to watch that. But I too love all the Ghibli movies. I loved "Princess Mononoke" (the first anime I ever watched and man - what a start!🤩) and "My Neighbor Totoro". "Graveyard Of The Fireflies" was one of the first movies ever to break my heart - I had a hard time recovering from that and it opened my eyes in so many ways. 🤯😭💔🙈 It leads the list of movies that are brilliant, but I could never watch again - if you know what I mean. But I like many newer anime movies too, like "Your Name", "Suzume", "A Silent Voice", etc. Strangely I'm not a huge fan of anime tv-shows (unless you count "Arcane" to anime, but for me it is it's own category😍). In western animation, especially Disney classics, my favorites are "The Jungle Book" - again, the first Disney movie I ever saw - "Bambi", "Dumbo", "Lady And the Tramp" up to "Aladdin". Then I lost interest, because Disney changed it's style. The characters were no longer soft, cute and cuddly styled, but more simply outlined, faces and bodies more angular. More broad strokes, if you know what I mean. I just couldn't bring myself to like this style. 🤔 Disney won me back with "Lilo And Stitch", one of my all-time favorite movies. And of course when they started making really good computer animated movies, like "Moana", "Frozen" or "Zootopia". And of course "Tangled", which has a lot of the charm that made the old Disney movies so great. Pixar is (or was until recently) my top-standard of animated movies. Technically and storywise they were a level of it's own. Even their less good films are a level above everything else. My absolute favorites of those are "Wall-E", "Ratatouille" (a nearly perfect masterpiece 😍) and "Inside out" (This movies is actually often used by teachers in schools or colleges to introduce the students of psychology classes to the matter). Honorable mentions go to "Coco", "Up" and "Finding Nemo". Oh wow, I'm rambling, sorry - and I could easily ramble on forever, as there are so many excellent movies I didn't mention. 😍😅🙈 Like "The Iron Giant" for example. I remember how surprised I was by this movie I knew nothing about beforehand, and how incredibly touching it was. 😊 "Into The Spiderverse" is great, but it didn't blew me away like so many other viewers. The only spider-man of all the spider-?men? 😅 I really loved is the Tom Holland spider-man. 🤔😍 That's my "two pfennige" (let's see who gets the reference 😉) to the topic. Oh and alycia, I would love to see you react to another animated movie, no matter what country, style or year it is from. I only saw your "Iron Giant" reaction a short time ago and immediately wished I could have seen it on time and talked with y'all about it. 😊
